I give this shit Three stars, its an adverage album and it led me to ask one question. HOW DA FUCK DO YOU PLAN ON BRINGIN NY BACK SWAGGA JACKIN DA SOUTH? Before i get into a song by song review, allow me to say Mims is not that dude, he is a gimmick and honestly I want tha hour i spent listening to this CD back. I herd it leaked and decided to give tha lil fuck some burn see what he was working with. He has some dumb man lyrics, decent beats ive herd better production on crazypellas, true story.
He has no true style, his album is a bunch of other people's styles and swaggas mashed into this Mr. Potatoe head shit that he likes to think as versatilitie while i think that it is a montage of shit that has sold in the past and shit that is selling now used in a age where pure music is dying, so his voice seems like a saving force. WRONG mims is real basic, no deph what so ever in his music. Im not saying you have to be a deep thinker make me wanna go read a book but dayum can i get a witty punchline, something comical what about a song with a concept, a point a purpuse other then this is why im hot im fly this is me. Mims is jus a pretty boy trying to cash in on rap..I will give him credit for not filling his album with crack talk.
Where I Belong
-Decent beat, reminds me of a late 90's radio ready single. Sounds like a 2pac concept as far as belonging in his lyrically crafted perfect world. this song isn't the best on the album but it fills space
Cop It
- hot as sample that had me laughin when mims really said i dont understand her..dude she is speaking english as clear as possible. Anywho soon as it starts your thinkin its a crack song but instead he delivers a flow and a rhyme scheme that would sound so much better for this is why im hot instead of spitting on a crack beat about being fly and why your hot. And he swagga jacks kanye and jay-z a lot with bittin delivery and lines from the two
They Dont Wanna Play Ft Bun B and Seed
-Sounds like a Rick Ross Throw away track, that they let mims rap on. He flips his lil south flow on a south sounding beat with a bun b lyric chopped for a hook. This Seed dude is wack, wack flow, wack delivery and wack rhymes to match a waste of space however bun b comes to save this track with a crazy 16. Must have been the 20 to 35 thousand he gets to appear on a song cause this shit was wack aside from Bun B's presents.
Like This
-This could easily be his next single. Has that radio TV sound to it. Bouncy beat, club party get drunk type music where he delivers slick lines as to what a girl should move like.
Girlfriends Fave Mc
-Prolly one of my fave beats on here, yet a very overused concept. Every since Jay-Z Said "Gotta hurt im your baby mothas fave rappa" seems like every rapper has that line or concept in their catolog, as if it is disrespectful for your spouse to have a seperate taste in music then what you personally create. That sounds kind of stupid to begin with..then to listen to a 3 minute song about it is annoying not to mention the corn ball punclines he uses to deliver them..perfect example of a rapper that lacks true talent yet holds on to such powerful production.
Big Black Train
- allow me to say LMAO! wtf! this has a decent beat yet the metaphore for riding his dick is just as horrible as his singing on the hook. She wants to ride so she rides his big black train..it is juvenile and sounds like this should have been a throw away track.
Its Alright
-This is my fave track its bannahs, this should have been the first single the beat is fucking dunkin dounuts! this shit is fucking crack..still lyrically not as strong as a REAL EMCEE could perform on a beat of this caliber and no real concept to the song or the music yet it is still a better track then This is why Im Hot
Superman and Without you..much more of the same
then he fills space on his album with..This is why im hot, This is why im hot Junior Gong remix and I did you wrong..
If you have never herd I did you wrong it is a sample heavy song wit a pretty nice beat and he delivers a hot delivery backing some wack rhymes about cheating.
I give this album a 3 it is worth a listen to soak up tha beats but i wouldn't buy it and if i did id prop my table up wit it :sneaky2:
