Infest UK 2007, August 24 - 26 @ University of Bradford, England
I know it's a little late but I wasn't sure if I should review it or not
because I'm not that good at writing reviews .
I saw a few good videos on YouTube, so I thought I'd try and write a review...
Here goes...
I won't bore you with details of how I got there, how long it took e.t.c....
Infest UK is an Industrial/EBM/Electronic Festival that has been running for 10 Years in Bradford, England.
It went over 3 days/nights:
Friday: 20:00 - 02:00 (DJ's played music 'til about 03:00)
Saturday: 15:00 - 02:00 (DJ's played music 'til about 03:00)
Sunday: 15:00 - 02:00 (DJ's played music 'til after 3)
I know this isn't music listened to here, but that's sort of what I listen to, I usually listen to rock/metal/pop/punk,
and from since about last year, one Industrial band, Dope Stars Inc, who I went to Infest to see.
The artists were: (the myspace pages might be better to listen to them) VNV Nation (UK) Apoptygma Berzerk (NO) Soman (DE) Dope Stars Inc. (IT) 13th Monkey (DE) Faderhead (DE) Painbastard (DE) Caustic (USA) The Gothsicles (USA) Rupesh Cartel (SE) Portion Control (UK) E.S.A (UK) Greyhound (DE) Synnack (USA)
There were DJ's playing as well, I don't want to list the whole Schedule here, but if you are interest you can see here: Infest - the uk's premier festival of alternative electronic music.
As I said above I went to see Dope Stars Inc., I had only heard of VNV Nation before but not listened to them,
and I hadn't heard of any of the other bands.
I did like most of the bands and have been trying to find their music.
I can't really give proper reviews of each night/artist, because it was about a week ago and I was drinking . I'll try tho.... FRIDAY
The acts playing Friday were:
Gothsicles
Greyhound
Portion Control Gothsicles
I can remember the Gothsicles well, they were quite funny and started with a catchy song Holy Shit! We're Playing Infest,
They were a good band to open up the festival, and got everyone going. 8/10. Greyhound
I can't really remember them that well, so I can't really rate them. Portion Control
I can remember a little of Portion Control, and I remember I did like what I remember, I don't remember enough to describe it tho. I'll say 7/10.
The music that the DJ's played between the acts and up to the end was good, although I can't name any of the tracks lol SATURDAY
The acts playing Saturday were:
Synnack
Faderhead
Caustic
Dope Stars Inc.
13th Monkey
Apoptygma Berzerk Synnack
I can't really remember Synnack... Faderhead
Faderhead were okay from what I remember. 5/10. Caustic
Umm... I think I can remember some of Caustic, they were okay as well, I think I quite liked them. 7/10. Dope Stars Inc.
The band that I went to see came on, so I got right up front...
Dope Stars Inc. were amazing, they played a few songs from each album,
and I loved every minute of it! imho they certainly weren't the greatest live act...
I wasn't happy with the singer he kept going off stage, once I saw him just taking a drink..
why didn't he have the drink on stage, like everyone other act?
Even still, I still loved it and I'm glad I travelled all that way to see them.
The did a cover of Ace Of Spades which was good, I was expecting it because I had watched previous
live videos of them. I would give them a 8.5/10. 13th Monkey
I think I liked liked, although I can't remember much. 7/10 I'll say. Apoptygma Berzerk
I liked Apoptygma Berzerk, a lot of crowd started gathering to see them,
it was the biggest crowd I had seen the whole festival. I'd give them 8/10. SUNDAY
Sunday's line-up was:
ESA
Rupesh Cartel
Painbastard
Soman
VNV Nation ESA
ESA were good, and got a good crowd I think. Umm.. probably 7/10. Rupesh Cartel
Rupesh Cartel, were one act that I didn't really like, there music wasn't really as good
as the other acts, they were ok on stage.. but ... meh... 5/10 (being generous). Painbastard
I liked Painbastard, there music was good and had a great stage presence. 8/10. Soman
This guy just had hardware, but he really got involved with the crowd, and got them going. 8/10. VNV Nation
VNV Nation were great, they had a huge crowd, probably the biggest at the whole festival.
They done 2 encores, when they off first, they waited a long time before coming out to do the 1st encore,
I felt if they waited any longer the crowd would have turned on them.
They dedicated a song to a girl who was killed last week or something for being a goth, it was a sad song,
but a nice thing for them to do. All over there songs were amazing. Definitely deserve 10/10.
On Sunday after the music and everything had finished we went back to another guys flat, and talked and drank
for a while... I didn't get back to my flat 'til about 05:00 so I didn't bother going to sleep lol, I had a bus to get
at about 12:00, so I wouldn't have been up on time.
So there is my review, I know it's not great, but here are some videos I've found on YouTube, which I hope will make up for that ...
even though they may not be the best of quality, you should still get an idea of how good it was!

Oh yeah.. the pic in my avatar was taken at it, I went for something to eat and these Jagermeister girls came over with shots, they took the pic after I took the shot :coo2l:
Overall I would rate the weekend 10/10, and probably will be going back next year :thumbup1: | |
