i think cams holdin a gun to his own head on this one... lol
Cam'ron, Killa Season (Atlantic, 2006)
You guys like Cam'ron, right? His last album, Purple Haze, only sold 6 copies, but it developed quite the following in the hipster community. For this follow-up, Cam pulled every publicity stunt you can imagine, from dissing Jay-Z to releasing a low-budget Killa Season movie. I wonder how well all this will work though when it's said and done with. This one might not even do as well as Purple Haze.
KILLA CAM...
Cam lets yet another one of his bag handlers take the intro. Perfect!
HE TRIED TO PLAY ME...
I think XXL might have posted this at some point, but Cam sings on this. It's pretty retarded and not really that amusing.
LEAVE YOU ALONE...
About how Cam can't leave the hood. I can't believe they're still using those damn sped-up vocal samples here. Jesus H. Tapdancing Christ.
LIVING A LIE...
Who the fuck is "Mo' Money?" Cam may address his shooting situation here. I wasn't really paying attention.
WE MAKE CHANGE...
Features Juelz Santana and sounds suspiciously like "Get 'Em Girls."
VOICEMAIL...
.
This is probably amusing, but it's barely audible.
WET WIPES...
The second half of the "Touch It or Not" video that takes place in the Waffle House. About how Cam's going to take someone's woman.
TOUCH IT OR NOT...
So Lil' Wayne's on this? I didn't remember that from the video. His verse is amusing and almost as childish as Cam's, which is saying something.
WAR...
Oh goody, more Hell Rell! The chorus borrows from that one Juelz Santana song from his first album. They're repeating themselves a lot on this album.
TRIPLE UP...
Cam drops a couple of nice verses and then lets another one of his weed carriers foul everything up.
I.B.S...
Yep, this is really about irritable bowel syndrome. Cam seems especially adamant that he was never on the pipe, which I took to mean he used to be on the pipe.
GET YA GUN...
The song is nothing special, but Cam's flow here is especially impressive here.
WHITE GIRLS...
This is about how awesome white girls are, right? I can get with that.
GIRLS, CASH, CARS...
Another one that sounds vaguely like "Get 'Em Girls." I wish they would've varied up the production here a lot more.
DO YA THING (REMIX)...
Cam rhymes over yet another Earth, Wind and Fire song. "That's the Way of the World," I think.
GET 'EM DADDY (REMIX)...
I don't recall the original, but I can't imagine it was worse than this. Lots of bag handlers on this, too.
VOICEMAIL 2...
Similar to the first one, I couldn't make out what was being said here.
SOMETHING NEW...
Old school-sounding. Anything would be a nice break from all this monotonous Dipset bullshit, but this is kinda nice anyway.
YOU GOTTA LOVE IT...
One history's all-time underwhelming dis tracs. The shit with the sandles is still kinda funny though.
LOVE MY LIFE...
Some sentimental-sounding bullshit.
COMMENTS: Dipset fans may really enjoy this, but I can't imagine that a lot of the people who embraced Purple Haze will find much to like here.... Cam still kicks lots of wacky shit on the mic, but the production is extra low budget. I don't recall there being a lot of big name producers on the last album other than Kanye, but that album had several hits on it... This is like a major label mixtape by comparison.
BEST TRACKS: "Touch It or Not" "I.B.S." "Something New"
overall i wasnt really feelin this disc... short of breath so i can be done talkin about it lol...
