Rule #1 Stay away from non talented ass, broke, I want a free beat to rap on and put on my myspace, they say I sound like blah, blah, blah, no knowledge of the game, lazy ass rappers. Catch those cats who are show hunters, not demo wishers, you feel me. That's as real as it gets.

I've been doin beats for almost 2 years, and I still havent sold anythin, or put any beats online.
I dont wanna put my effort into somethin, then sell it for $25.
But some cats are so fuckin cheap, they cant pay $100 for exclusive license.

    1. Learn your equipment. Get your tempos right and all that.

    2. Make beats that attract your target...rappers, singers, video games, commercials, ect.

    3. Hustle real hard. If you can't sell a beat while you are offline, or people aint feelin ya, then you will have to keep working til people like your stuff.

    a. Burn a CD of all of the beats you feel are hot and let as many people listen to it as possible. You are ready to shop to the "actual money spending local artist" when majority of the people that heard you say you are Blazin hot, and not just hot. They have to go crazy over your beats, because the ones spending money done heard it all from wack to hot to blazing hot to even beats they can't afford, feel me. First impressions on them is important. Make sure before you sell a beat, you have some contracts ready for them to sign, and I mean, contracts that a lawyer has looked over and said it's straight. Sell your beats offline no less than $500 negotiate $300. If they say they aint got it, move on because they are not ready, them broke ass fuckers:mad2: The ones who are serious about their career in music are interested in getting booked for shows, selling cd's, and getting exposure, so they constantly spending money, and making it, too. Those are the ones you want to catch when you get your shit right

MyBeatShop.com - Buy Hip Hop Rap Beats & Instrumentals
here is a place online you can sell your beats, only thing it takes the last day of the month after the last beat sold on the last day of the last month to get paid, meaning if you sold 1 beat for $50 on 7/31, you get paid for that and all other beats sold after 7/1 on 8/30.

I sold alot most of them shits on my soundclick are sold. Alot of ppl act like they are bigger than what they are. Its funny when I offer a garbage ass beat that took me 10 minutes to do and they go crazy over it and I actually hate the beat lol.

Also watch out for ppl that try to get you down wit they team. Most of them wanna use you for free beats. Even if you enjoy doin beats when you workin ya ass off not havin free time rushing your self you gonna want to get paid.

Now what IM_YOUR_FATHER was saying is true. Alot of my beats seemed just ok but they hype them up so much more. If you make a beat cd don't give them the full tracks have them shits a minute or two and maybe tag them at the parts where the beats are loopable. Lol and stay away from those ppl wit shitty ass mics tryin to record on they own. They make a good beat sound bad. Its hard to take someone seriously when all they wanna do is put songs on myspace. Make sure they doin shows and other stuff to promote they selves.

The most I've sold a beat for is $300. Don't ever undersell yourself, but don't try to be bigger than you are. And don't give shit away to ANYONE, with out something in writing.
