Yea its all on how you know ya shit and how to handle things. Beats aint as hard as recording ppl. Ni66az come around all the time not knowin they lines its crazy. You gotta set ya self some limits as well how many hours how many ppl etc. I waz recording shit in high skoo my jr and senior yr. Gettin picked up sixth and last period still got everything done. Then I got to college it waz kinda harder but in college if you jump on the work soon as you get it and not be lazy about it you'll be savin time and not be stressin over it lata on. If you got a girl that shit is 10 times harder lol.

I ain't never done the whole recording process. Right now I'm just really a beatmaker. But I know alot of heads who do it at my college. They all say the same thing, you gotta be disciplined. You got to have more of a schedule for yourself when you're gonna study and get your work done as soon as possible so you can have more time to record and shit. Also so you can still have a life. Cause college takes a big portion of your time, then you got recording/beatmaking, you need to be able to give yourself some time to chill.

it really depends on what college and what major. If you're doing, say, a major in Creative Writing, that's the kind of work you can do while on the toilet and be done. But if you're doing engineering or arts like acting where there's a LOT of work(and yes acting is a lot of work), then beatmaking may have to be relegated to 1am a couple nights a week.

For me, I graduated highschool at 16 (left real school and got homeschooled to be able to work and do music). I turned 18 on April 26th, and that day I moved out on my own. Me and my girl got a spot together, and I moved the studio here in the bedroom. I work a firts shift job, which averages about $15 - $16 an hour depending on how much we do, but always guaranteed $8.50 an hour (min. wage here is $5.15).
Basically, it boils down to this. For me, I run a label/management/production/recording/promotion/etc. company, that being Ill Water Productions.
I have a 4 year old step son, a two jobs, a girlfriend, and about $2,500 in bills a month. My girl makes $12.05 an hour, so financially we're decent. You always have to add "real life" into the whole music equation. Me personally, I have to consider the following :
Credit card bills
Loans
Health Insurance
Car insurance
Gas
Cigerettes
House payments
Lot rent
Utilities
Amenities (internet, TV, etc.)
Business costs (flyers, posters, equipment, etc)
QT with the girlfriend and kid
And a shit load more...
It all basically boils down to how dedicated you are. I'm on a schedule, but it's not as bad as it might seem. As long as you keep certain days and times strictly for certain events, you'll be fine. I'm also about to do some more on line schooling(did high school on line, it's fully accredited), so that's more stuff.
Just be sure to plan everything well, and always remember... "Those who fail to plan, plan to fail."
