    Default Thumpin Azz Kicks..?

Man I was just wonderin if anybody knows how to get some thumpin ass kicks like Maestro's off of 3 peat. Those kicks were different b/c throughout the WHOLE song you can hear them, unlike in others, they'll just cancel out due to clashing. But yea, any tips on how to compress my kicks to turn out thumpin and bangin like that?

You gotta eq the kicks to fit, then put the compressor on it. If your lucky a compressor with a limiter option is probably better. Theres mad ways you can make your kick thump. Also layer your kicks so one has the thump "kick you can feel" and one that has the knock "kick you can hear".

Another thing to make them seem louder is not to mix your beat to loud. The kick, bass, and snare in most cases should be the loudest and take up the most space. So mix the rest of your beat lower. All the listener needs to do is turn his volume up rather than you making it extra loud, distorted or over compressed.

LAYERING IS KEY!!! if you using fl studio stack like 3-8 kicks and finagle each one. Here is a little secret if you using fl studio go into the FUNC Tab at the bottom right you will see a knob under TIME called OFS move that around for each kick. Or you could add reverb, click the SMP Tab scroll down to legacy effects you should see a reverb with (a,b) click on A and bring up the reverb to taste, it will make your kicks wider you could even use the stereo delay. If you don't see legacy effects Press F10 go down to the General Tab and under advanced you should see (show legacy precomputed effects) select that. Another trick once you have all your drum sounds assigned in the mixer (i.e. Kick Insert 5, Snare Insert 6, Hi-hat Insert 6) create a compressor bus on a empty mixer slot, using the (SEND ) route all your drums to say Insert 10) Now on Insert 10 you can add a compressor and control the volume for all your drums, that technique is called Parallel Compression. The key is to have good drums to begin with

if you in fl use the cut itself function to avoid cancelin out or wateva...and i got some 808s dats almost like da joints in dat beat, but compression work to give it the right weight

Compress the kick so that its tight not thumpy, when its thumpy it clashes with the bassline or 808s.
