are you dealing with refills? or just aiff or wav files?

and all you have to do is go into redrum and click on the folder and find the file and it should come up.

this would be tenous for a full kit, but most of these "kits" you find online arent made for reason, but you can still use them. Thats what refills are for.

Its easy to get confused on which folder is for your wav files and refills when you first start messin with it.

Another thing to keep in mind when you start getting refills. The refills only work for the module it was made for. So if you have a Redrum refill don't try and load it in the NN-19 it just wont work, that goes for everything else. The only exception is all of the NN-19 refills work in the NN-XT.

Okay so you photoshoped the folders right? And why don't the drums play when I assign them? Like I'm playing Korg and after I assign them & nothing plays out.

Yea I did, their normally supposed to be white how you would see. Start with the key farthest to your left. If that doesn't work just change the octaves and Just slide your hands thru the keys till you hear something.

You can use it with or without the keyboard. Its just easier to make a song with a keyboard.

Heres how you can use you pc keys as a keyboard.

i would recommend usin' fl studio if you don't have a midi keyboard, it's alot easier to use. i've had reason for over year but i haven't used it yet (i just bought a midi keyboard last month). i know about the keyboard option but if you have ever made beats on a keyboard (not a pc keyboard), play the piano or taken a piano class, then there is no way that you can go back to the mouse and keyboard (it just doesn't feel the same).

Your absolutely right. I never used the PC keys even when I didn't have a midi keyboard. You miss out on the whole feel of reason when you don't have a midi keyboard. FL I mean you can construct your whole beat with the mouse and some keyboard shortcuts. Me personally I don't always feel like using the midi keyboard in FL but in Reason its a different story. I'm sure if you went to hit a chord it would be like learning to use the piano all over again. It would be alot more harder to have everything on key. I just showed him the video since he said he wanted to try it before he got a controller.

yea. i only made one beat in reason when i dl'ed it about a year ago. i could just make a simple 16 bar loop in reason. i couldn't make a tite beat like i could in fl studio just usin' the piano roll and mouse.
