Yamaha - Portable Keyboard with 61 Full-Size Keys - PSR-E413

I'm getting a piano for my birthday, and I want to know I get the right piano I'm looking for.

I dont know that much about midi, but if can spare their time to help me and tell me that this is the piano that play with the computer and without the computer.

I'm looking for a piano that can play to help me make beat with fl studio, and also just play it without a computer. So if anyone got the time to check this out and tell me. I don't know much about piano and midi instrumental,so I would appreciate this alot.

If you can give me more information that would helpful too.

1-Would you recommend this piano?
2- Is fl studio a good program that work with this?

It supports MIDI and USB, so I wouldn't see a problem with using this keyboard with FL. You may want to check out the official FL forum and see if anyone else has had issues using that particular keyboard with FL. As the saying goes, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Normally I'd tell you to purchase a MIDI controller, but since you want to use it without a DAW, it seems like a solid fit. I just hope that you plan to purchase it from another source because it is WAY overpriced on Best Buy.

Yes, it's reasonably overpriced at Best Buy (and most locations, at least the Best Buy's that I know of, rarely carry keyboards).

Amazon.com: Yamaha PSR-E413 61-Key Digital... Amazon.com: Yamaha PSR-E413 61-Key Digital...http://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha-P...14-i1388210.gc

You could go even lower with eBay, if you are willing to go used.

According to the official website, you can buy an "energy saving" power supply separately. I would assume that it takes batteries as well, probably D cells.

And yes, the piano can play with or without a computer.

the power supply thign means it dont come with the v8 plug that goes into the back of the piano to the outlet its no big deal though you can buy one or you prolly have an old one at home...that is kinda overpriced but you can get a regular midi keyboard for like a 100 as long as its got midi thats what i got cause if your using it for midi than who cares bout what it sounds like outloud...and at home for practicing its decent sounding anyway, not professional like on stage but honestly for 300 your not gonan hear much of a difference

That's the only thing tho. Not only does he want MIDI/USB control with the computer, he wants the ability to play the piano standalone. Unless he wanted to carry around a sampler, a controller wouldn't be enough for what he wants to do.

And if he wants to improve his piano playing skills, Yamaha is really the way to go. They have great teaching software and their keyboards are education-friendly.

Most newer usb 2.0 midi controllers are self powered by the usb connection alone. I don't know tho because its gonna be using more power when your using it without it hooked up to the keyboard. Image-line did some stupid shit that makes it hard to read their forum unless you register a product there.

Just read reviews on different sites besides the manufacturer because they will always make it sound convincing.

The first review on the page justin gave us someone wrote...

Quote:
Note: This model replaced the PSR-E403 as of May 2008. The two are extremely similar, with the E413 containing a few upgrades (165 vs. 155 styles; 100 arpeggio functions vs 50; etc..). The feel and most of the features of the two, however, are almost the same.
