Default Personal true story of why you should always keep your old beat projects recoverable!

So im a regular on the website Ustream.tv. Mostly what i do on there is just chill with the folks i fuck with on there, roast ugly ass mufuckas and occasionally have some freaky talk with a girl who lives countries away from me but she likes to strip on skype. Sounds all cool right? Until that single choice made in a single minute made in a single day in 3 years comes along. The first day a dope ass, poetic male rapper by luck gets to hear one of my beats (when i say by luck i mean i was clowning on this dude to a certain extent on some good vibe but still fucking around) but none the less he hears one of my beats. Now this beat is sampled (Lonnie Smith - A Garden Of Peace) - (Jayz - Dead Presidents) and so are the drums on the beat which im not going to name the sample. Whats the problem with that? Well first off i cant make no money unless i clear the 2 samples which i do not plan on doing and second im so deep into the music that i feel its the sample that caught his ear and the drums which are also sampled which gives me no "Damn he likes my shit kinda vibe even tho i produced the beat with my own style" but the good thing is a dope ass rapper is gonna rap on "my" shit therefore by logic he's going to want more beats which i will mos def supply and i got a rapper who aint no dumb down south music dick ridin mufucka who's poetic...Thats the perfect combination this dude and my beats so im happy and maybe one day i can make money which is not my focus right now as im doing this for the music and not the money. But now the issue is (read the title of this post) that i got a snippet of the beat but it hasn't been mixed nor finished and is about 30 seconds long and he needs the entire beat. So i go look in my Fl Studio projects and i see the beat BUT all the samples i used can not be found and are not in the sliced beats folder...Thats fucked up, so now i either got to search all over for those files or re-do the beat which i really dont want to do and nor do i plan on doing since im so lazy. So my only options are find the sliced samples or just chop up the snippet i have now and just make it into a full beat and just mix the new shit i add, its sloppy az fuck but will turn out decent...Moral of the story...no matter how whack or how old or anything a beat project may seem ALWAYS keep your back-up of it because you never know what could happen in a split unexpected music career changing second and im living proof of that so learn from your fellow music producers mistake and go make that shit happen like im about to do but just on some "more work to do" tip lol holla! And this kid sound like Nas like a mufucka too u awreadi know wassup with that str8 fire and he a new york dude (Born and raised in Edenwald project's in the Bronx section of New York City)

Not backing up my files used to bite me in the ass a whole lot during college because I was pretty much broke. It used to be hella expensive to buy external hard drives and all I had was a CD Burner. I've Switched computers three times and I've lost .flp files and .wav files every single time. Drives me nuts!
