So, Its 2009 roughly. I'm reading XXL magazine (popular hip hop magazine) and Gucci Mane had went to jail. He said in his interview that everybody who wrote while he was in jail. he would write back to (everyone) So now i'm thinking to myself, " this is my shot" WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol my beats were garbage, I was just beginneing to learn how to make beats, to say the least. I spent that next couple of weeks trying to get all of his information (gov't name, where his jail location was... etc) some real crazy stalker type shit lol. I write him a letter like i kno him or something and im like " Yo, Gucci Wassup I'm a young producer trying to produce for someone famous" BLAH" BLAH" BLAH" BURR!!!!! ... to make a long story short. Gucci Never wrote back.

To you guys just starting out in your producing career/journey or whatever it is to you.. ^^^^^^^^^^^ this is not the way to go about it. Yes, it was possible for him to get that letter and let me produce for him but not likely.. The moral of this story is Be peristent not crazy. I would like to hear some of you other guys stories. If you have similiar ones... Jahlil beats (recently signed rocnation producer) has a story kind of similiar to mine. When he approached Jay-z. But now he is signed and one step closer to greatness.

dont forget, let me hear those stories lol

Not much of a story lol. But yeah, I sometimes take a shot and send emails to a bunch of famous artists with my beats, usually get maybe one response. The most famous I've ever produced for is probably Mr 3-2 of the Screwed Up Click, he did a lot of songs with UGK, he was almost the third member. Basically a guy who's cool with him saw my stuff on youtube and passed some beats along. Still waiting to catch that big break though lol

Lol well back in the day I used to actually send out a message to all of my friends/subscribers when I had a new song up, and that helped a lot. But now I have way too many to do that, since there's a limit to how many you can send to at once, and I've noticed a bit of a drop in views. But I think twitter has helped get some exposure, so it's all good

I have a friend that was close to producing beats for Dipset but it just never fabricated....It really is all about who you know...Being a Producer/DJ is great because it opens so many doors.......DJing your own tracks and seeing the response on the dancefloor or through a rap cypher is better than any response that you could get through an email....Its not the best of the best getting the hook ups with celebrity rappers, etc....its people that are in the right place at the right time for the most part....Making friends with other talented people/determined people will always take you alittle further than what you could do by yourself.

well I've been sending tracks to vinnie paz for along along time with no response. BUT I did happen to land a 3 placements on Doap Nixons upcoming album Sour Diesel 2 so that's pretty big (for me anyway) and I also sent beats to Celph Titled I didn't think I would get a response from him but he did and said "you know alot of producers send me beats but most of them are garbage. but I really like you're sound but the beats you sent don't really have the vibe I'm lookin for, for this new shit I'm workin on. so in short. he said send him some more with the vibe he wanted. so I have been but yet to hear back. so the moral it's NOT who you know if you have good beats then you won't have any problems getting placed ....but only if you're consistent with your email only because they DO get alot of beats a day. but you have to send them MIXED and sounding good cause otherwise they ain't gonna give you the time a day
