Thread: Mixed Down Track?

    Default Mixed Down Track?

    All right, I'm about to show how "green" I am. I was just looking at different websites trying to find places to send demo's to (not that I'm about to send one out, just trying to get familiar with the process), and I found this statement:

    "Sorry no soundclick pages, we need CD's that we can sit and review, if someone here likes something we will then ask you to mail us a mixed down 2 track of it but it all depends on if we feel it or not."

    What exactly do they mean by "mixed down 2 track?"

    single tracking it. when you go to a studio you have to have every instrument and vocal single tracked....meaning...you have to export all the instruments as a single track then line them up in something like cool edit or acid. this way, when your in tha studio...they can control every little thing..volumes..pans..that kinda thing.

    So wait, when they ask for that you send the .ses file in cool edit? Or is there a way to export it into one .mp3 or .wav file that will still allow you to control each channel seperately, and also if they ask for it that way, do they want you to even play with any filters or is it better to just send the track unfiltered?

    dont send they that shit; unless u get signed or something;
    they mean send every layer of the beat there is;

    but they also might mean send them a SNIPPET; cause i got that answer a lot, they dont want soundclick.com page; and they dont wanna spend time to listen to entire beat.
    that what they mean, mixdown ur beat to a track;

    thanks, I was just looking at some labels that were talking unsolicited shit, and that's what it said, so I was wondering what they meant. I still don't feel I'm ready to send anything out yet though.
