    Everybody has their own choice.
I have an M-Audio soundcard and Pro Tools M-Powered, but I stick with Cubase SX3.
I just learned Cubase and stuck with it.
Pro Tools doesn't have anything that I need, except for that beat matching plug-in, and the ability to send ur shit to an engineer or producer in a diff country, which would come in handy if ur workin with foreign dudes.

yea, i heard stories of ppl losin' work 'cause they didn't have protools.

me, i know protools but i don't know how to use cubase. but i've read that cubase is better for midi. protools is good for live audio. the only thing i don't like about protools is that i'm limited to 32 simultaneously tracks (48 with the upgrade) but i shouldn't run into the limit since i won't be recordin' vocals on my pc. i have cubase but i'll get a mbox, plus i should be able to rewire cubase, acid, reason and fl studio into protools.

what i can say about protools is that the interface is EASY to learn while i got lost in cubase (it took me forever just to find the pop-up box for changin' the tempo from the default 120/140).

i really want the mbox 'cause they are one of the few companies that have a firewire interface (which is better for streamin' audio than usb when it comes to music, and i'll pay EXTRA for a firewire interface). i think m-audio has one with the firewire interface too.

yea i mean u really dont have to use it but if u plan on workin with ne major producers its a must cuz pro tools is industry standard ....go into any major studio and dats what u see....

Ill get a M-box when I get stuff cleared off my to buy list. I rather just work harder on a track instead of pro tools, but If its that much of a necessity, then I might as well start early. I dont wanna be in doubt like shit I should of got it a long time ago if its needed to complete projects. I think this time around alot of new programs are just as good. Pro tools just gives you most of the stuff you need as to any other program you gotta get the plugins seporatly. Thats kinda like dudes wantin to collab on their FL beats a big majority of people use that to collab because its easier since everyone knows how to use it and you just use default plugins that it comes with instead of goin through mad shit. I dont wanna get into that tho its just an example.

I don't see much advantage to pro tools other than the 'industry standard' acceptance, you can edit audio the same way in Audition - pro tools is more exclusive with its plug ins but still once the track is mixed down it would be hard for the listener to tell you used one over the other.
