How do you promote???

Hey i was wondering how other people go about promoting and pitching there beats to artist?? Do you put in the work of going to alot of forums and myspace bulletin's , targeting specific artist or do you just put your beats up and wait for someone to buy it?? I'm having a hard time selling some of my beats i was wondering what approach others take to this.

myspace soundclick u just gat to message alot of ppl and go around your city pass around sum of your beats with tag's on them 1 way to get alot of ppl to notice u is to give out free stuff

Meet local rappers.
Thats how u will get mad promotion if ur shit is hot.
Nothin beats word of mouth.

I got alot of promotion just from where I live. Find some artist that are worthy and sell them for a affordable price. Once that artist gets his material out trying to promote his self your gonna get promoted long as your stuff is good. Somebody's gonna always asks the artist who makes your beats if it sticks out. Just try messing with a mixture of artists and groups and the buzz and will just multiply. Also try to get as many shout outs as you could on the beats you supply them. Some artists are okay with small tags somewhere on the beats too.

yea one definitely efeective way is to saturate the market with collabs. work with as many people as possible and basically ull get a flood effect going on and a natural buzz will be the result.

Do some producer showcases...Meet with rappers on myspace,soundclick, any website which allows you to post your beats...Go on forums like these..post ya beats up...Take advantage of the internet but also u have to do some street work also...Put out a mixtape with ya beats on it hand it out for free...things like that...If ur hott people will come to u

Network with other producers, and rappers. My main market for sales right now is Pittsburgh, why? I have no, friggin, idea. But, I ended up hooking up with an emcee in the PGH, gave him a few beats, now I'm doing a full album with 'em. And, in turn he introduced me to some other cats out there, and the ball's been rolling ever since.

Don't think giving away free beats is a dumb move, it's actually the best way to get your name out there. As long as the artist credits you, if not, well then you know not to work with that idiot again.
