I usually jus download shyt from old skoo artist i kno or sombody gives me a name of a classic and i look for the other songs made by them,i usually go for the more grimmy sound instead or the laid bacc relaxed sound, also not many people pay attention to the video games hard like i do as far as listenin to music on them those a ppl know wut there doin lol real composers and producers.
Another thing i do is listen to songs ppl already flipped just because sombody got to the song first doesnt mean your copying them just listen to a diffrent part that catches your ear them old songs are usually about 5 or 6 minutes long, and the average person will probably use 30 seconds max added all together.
Alot of the time you can just open the media player up and find the composer and the artist on the song.Once i get the names down write it in limewire etc.
Finding samples on newer songs is a lil bit harder well for me at least since everybody wanna be heard when the beat aint drop wit the drums and other stuff.

Yeah man, I E-dig also. Haha! I couldn't seriously dig if I wanted to. No turntables, no mpc, and I'm broke. What I do is, I got this website bookmarked that pretty much lists like every Soul artist from like the 1930's on up. I'll just go look up random artists, then run over to Amazon.com. They let you listen to like 30 second samples of songs on alot of CD's and Vinyls. So I'll just run through an artist's songs on Amazon and see if I can find one that sounds straight. Then, I'll use Limewire or whatever and pray to god that I can actually find the damn song to download.
Every time I've sampled, I always use Soul music but I'd like to sample from other genres also. | |

yeah i do this too alot. purists/elitists/whatever you wanna call them look down on that, dont really know why. i guess cause it takes the "digging" part out, the samples already been found and youre just capitalizing on someones idea.
yo AO any chance of hookin me up with that site?
oh yeah what i do is if im not sampling an already used song ill be downloading albums of artists people sampled already. ill usually find shit from the breaks database

Ive been taking samples from composer Clint Mansell.. he did the scores on the movies Doom, Requiem for a Dream and a bunch of others. the man is a genius, check his website clint at the controls. you can download samples of his work. its easy to sample cuz there are no lyrics, just music at its best

i used to chop samples from the music i listen to when i heard sumthin i mite be able to use, but i dont do that enymore, i download kits and then only use em if theyre original kits like the 1s they sell on modern beats, neptunian drums etc.
