i probaly have the biggest headphone collection i should take a pic. ive had 3 pairs of skull candies 2 different models the skull crushers both broke and some big ass white ones with changable cups.... skull candies are more for fashion. i wudnt recommend them for producing espeacullly the crushers as its just BASS. i got those gold technics those are dope they make everything sound CLEAR highs and lows i think theyre pretty pricey cant remeber. the sony ones are good aswell cuzz theyre cheap. im using some panosonic ones theyre dope. i aint tried the dres tho any one know if theyre any good?

I just got some Panasonic RP HTX7's from Target for 79.99 like 2wks ago. Been a while since I used phones but these are pretty close to studio quality. I have nothing really bad to about them really. They have a great dynamic range, all the way down to 20hz...and you can actually hear it. I think they have 30mm drivers, I wish they had used 40's. The drivers have awsome sound quality but dont really knock like I would prefer.

Overall Im really happy with em...

    Peace, J

Samson CH700 are good. Like 20 or 30 depending where you get them at. When I first got them its like the vocals jumped out along with the elements from the beats. Everything seems balanced and doesn't color the sound with bass. I also got the Samson RH-100 those run for about 30 or 40. They are good for low frequency's but I think their a lil aggressive on the mids but the highs are fine those are open back headphones.

I heard from alot of ppl that Sennheiser headphones are very good for mixing but they cost more too.

Sennheiser does it for me...but i started out with some sony monitor headphones for like 20 dollars from walmart, and they did the job too.
Best case scenario: GET SOME STUDIO MONITORS! (Headphones can only serve you so much justice, especially in critical mixing/mastering situations)

KOSS, Cheap Sonys, Skullcandy, and bascially anything available at your local Walgreens, Walmart, Target, and Best Buy aren't gonna be good

Just get a good pair off the bat so you wont have to worry about it in the future

I've owned One Pair of Audio Technica ATH-PRO5-V for the last year and they work great. They only run $69.95 on Musicians Friend to

Also the Sony MDR-7506 are a must have for most recording studios, half of the industry uses these, and they are only $99

edit - The Audio Techs have been discontinued

Beyerdynamics are a top brand as well

A brahmin once asked The Blessed One:
    "Are you a God?"
"No, brahmin" said The Blessed One.
    "Are you a saint?"
"No, brahmin" said The Blessed One.
    "Are you a magician?"
"No, brahmin" said The Blessed One.
    "What are you then?"
    "I am awake."

i've had both sennheirser hd 201's and 212 pro's both have a really nice combination of frequencies, definitely worth saving the extra cash for a pair
