Default For Cats That Use Comps...... - 24-06-2006, 03:40 AM

Ok, I've been making a couple beats on Fruity Loops, as some of you may have already listened to some, and I wanna step up more but don't have the hardware.

I've never used a plugin before and I know they'd probably help out my beats ALOT. So, I wanna know what plugins (if any) you guys use. Like, what plugins do you recommend? What exactly do they do?/How the hell do you use them?

Only thing I've fucked around with is Sytrus but that shit is confusing as hell.

a plugin is actualy just a "sound" that u can mod to ur needs. like if u got a synth and u want it to sound longer without distorting it or making it sound diffrent.

i use some vst's :sampletank 2(which i will be uploading soon),boo-bass(stock in fl) and others

You have the sampletank symphony orchestra expnansion? Probally the last thing i try to get my hands on for awhile. Either that or philaharmonik.

another useful plugin would be IMO Linplug Albino for synth work. It has good variated amount of sounds.

Its very underrated. But its a fucking cpu hog too. I only use it in cubase tracks, its too much for my FLStudio sequencer(i like to stack the strings and brass quite a bit sometimes).

Here's a couple VST's i'd recommend.

Rob Papen Blue:Underrated synth that is great for southern crunk tracks.

Korg Legacy Collection:not the friendliest piece to your cpu, but worth it. The MS-20 in it brings some of the sickest bass you'd ever want to hear and the legacy is terrific.

NI Guitar Combos:You can take the cheesiest guitar on earth and give it life with this amp effect plugin.

Absynth 3: You may not use it on every track. but when you do it shows its worth.

A few i dont like myself.

Amplitude: just average effects IMO. so so.

Garritan big band: not worth the space it takes up.

EastWest Orchestra: Same as above.

BigTick Rhino: The most unused program on my comp.

it sounds like you need a ram upgrade, or a faster processor....and maybe a bigger harddrive :D

if you export your melodies as wav files then import them as samples you can add ALOT more instruments without overworking your cpu

edirol orchestra doesn't have half the quality of East West Orchestra, and if you adjust the frequencies of your instruments (eg. I use Fruity 7 Band EQ) you can make almost any vst sound great it just takes some time to get use to...
