your ram is shit, I have a laptop w/ 384mb and i can barely run word on the bitch
get more ram, the processor is somewhat unimportant, as justin says w/ memory you can run Hypersonic on a PIII. I've tried.

Yup, I can run Hypersonic on a damn 800mhz processor with 1GB of ram.
To be honest, 384MB is not even ideal for Windows XP. It's best to have at least 512MB if you are going to use XP and have at least 1GB if you are going to use Vista.
Your disc size has very little to do with performance, and considering that you have 115GB free, that isn't your issue.
Find out what RAM your PC uses (look it up online, remove the cover on the PC and look at existing RAM) and upgrade it. With only 384MB of RAM, you aren't even taking advantage of your beautiful 64-bit processor. Order some RAM online and you'll be set.

I used to have a 384 MB's of ram and a P II. Then 512 MB's of ram and a P III, before I built a up to date computer. I wanted to throw them shits out the window because they lagged so much. Ram is very important. Make sure you know how much ram your system can take as well. I couldn't upgrade more than 512 MB's, dumb ass compact likes to prevent you from doing a lot "I really have something against them lol". It took forever to open up a project. I couldn't really finish most of my projects the way I wanted to. That kinda made me resort myself into learning how to sample and mess with reason, it uses lower resources. As you get better your gonna want more fx and quality instruments, and company's are only gonna make stuff heavier on your computer as time goes by, so if I were you I would try to upgrade and be up to date as possible. Shit costs money tho, whatever's in your budget.

External hard drives have nothing to do with computer memory.
As far as RAM goes, you need to find the exact kind used by your computer. If you insert the wrong kind of RAM into the motherboard, you could fuck it up. The easiest way to find this information is to look your computer model up on the manufacturer website.

What you can do to give us better specs of your computer is open the start menu and go to run. Now write dxdiag and hit ok. Now it should show system information in the system tab. Go to save all information at the bottom, now it will make a text file. Open it and copy the system information part and paste it to us. Theres no need to paste the rest of the text file to us because this gives all the hardware information, drivers, direct x plugin, codec, and alot more stuff. I could just point you to the right ram you need.

^ Just follow what ABM said.
I automatically thought his motherboard would take DDR RAM since he has an older Socket 754 CPU.
I'm pretty sure they take DDR.
If you buy new RAM, the old one needs to be taken out since mixing is not a good idea.
