I've always wondered what makes a beat an "east coast" beat. Are East Coast beats usually gritty soul sampled beats with hard kicks and fat bass lines, or what? I know west coast is usually more "g-funk" and with a bounce and thick funky bass lines, but what exactly makes a beat "east coast"?
It's kinda sad that I don't know this, considering I'm from the east coast.![]()
