    Default Buying an mpc..

Alright first off i dont really understand excatly so just a few questions!

is it called an mpc or is that just a make or is there diffrent makes and models?

what can you do with an mpc?

can you hook it up to a computer and use it with fl studio?

what would be the best mpc to get and what to look out for?

how much could it cost you?

    thanks peeps!

well first off, akai makes the mpc, and yes they have different models (can check different ones on the akai website

    2. u can do a lot with an mpc, its a sequencer, u load wav files into it and u can assign them to the different pads, i wanna say about everyone who owns them uses them mostly for samplin, o yea, and it makes your drums knock hard (1000, 2000xl, etc)

    3. yes it has a USB hook up so u can plug it directly into the computer

    4. depends on what your planning to do with it, i suggest u go to ur local guitarcenter or a music store that sells production equipment and play around with the different ones they have, akai also makes the mpc, the mpd and they have an xr20..

    5. again.. depends which one your looking for and if your going to buy it new or used from someone..

i recommend watching some youtube videos of people using the mpc or reading up on some stuff about wut it is..

ps. i am NOT a mpc owner or own any akai products so if im wrong about anything, someone correct me! and im sure u can give more info than me

If you aren't familiar with the MPC, I wouldn't recommend buying one. At the very least, you should try one out before using it because it may not be the right thing for you.

B.Reigns pretty much nailed it but there are some things to remember. Older MPC's do not have the USB ability, and if you are only planning to use the MPC with your PC, then you should just opt for a MPD. It's cheaper and will serve your purpose.

If you have a shitload of money to throw again, go with the Roland MV-8800 instead of an MPC.

The XR20 is nice but it reminds me of a regular ass drum machine. For a price tag of $300, you are better off going with a used MPC.

The Korg padKONTROL is a final option that you should consider. It's fairly cheap and it will do the necessary tasks.

alright like im just lookin for something with pads that i can use for samples and creating a beat cuz i hate having to fill in the beats on fl sequencer instead of just tapping dem in so what would be best for that and a decent price?

If ur just after the pads, u might as well just get an mpd...or even a midi controller and use the keys as pads, thats wot I have.

an mpd is just the pads, its just a midi controller that u use in programs like fl studio and reason, an mpc is a whole other thing, u do everything on the mpc.

You basically need a MPD or a padKONTROL. For what you are wanting to do, a normal MPC would be a waste of money for you.

mpd, Electronic Instruments, Guitar items on eBay.com

padKONTROL, Electronic Instruments items on eBay.com

You might want to check out this as well. I've used one of these before and they are a blast.

Musician's Friend - Buy musical instruments, music gear, musical equipment online and zZounds.com - Musical Instruments Music Store. Shop for Guitars, Drums, Amplifiers and Equipment. carry all three products I believe.

I would recommend Guitar Center but I'm pretty sure that GC is limited to the States so you'll probably have to resort to buying one online unless you can find a local music store that offers it.
