Default Beats on CP... - 10-01-2007, 11:59 PM

DISCLAIMER: This is my rant...if your gonna cry, bitch, and whine because you can't take some critisism get out. Consider yourself warned.

I was going through the beats on the site, got through the first few and was surprised to see how much people suck at drums on here. Keeping going through the beats, and still noticing the same trend.

People on here seem to download kits from the sample section and use them raw in their beats. Seriously, its gotten to the point were you can tell were each sound came from. If you think that people actually get the best kits they can find and post them in there your kidding youself. I've posted a couple times in the sample section...each time it was a throw away kit I would never use. You call it greedy, I call it competitive edge. Learn to make your own kits, and stop overcompressing!

Cats on here need to seriously learn to EQ, chop, and other very basic things. Just because FL allows everyone to make beats doesn't mean everyone can. People need to go back to the basics. Learn your tools and techniques. Stop looping the same section of samples that were on the latest 50 Cent album. Hell the couple times I seen this done...the shit wasn't even looping properly.

Next part of my rant goes back to drums. STOP QUANTIZING EVERYTHING! Half the beats are stiff. If you have trouble programming a beat that stays on beat, you either have to take the time to learn or quit, and the sooner the better.

Next is how all of you try to mimic the latest beat making style. Making beats is one part technical, and two parts creative. Get your own style, and be proud of it, but following whats on the radio now just makes you a carbon copy. The truth is that most of you that copy whats "hot" are killing the music. Save a culture...just fucking stop.

Trust me I could go on for days, but I'm sure you get the point. If you just want to make beats and ignore the little things...your not gonna make it any where. Eventually someones gonna be like turn up the highs and you'll know your in over your head.

thats real talk

Everyone just wants to learn how to make beats
When I first started out, I never even opened the program but deceided to learn from the begining
like real begining
on how sound is made and how we hear it, sound waves, color of sound
that is how I learnt how to EQ and mix down and catch diff sounds in other beats
this also taught me to make my own sounds/kits

My beat making didn't even include making sounds. It started with a thick stack of books from the library on stuff like music theory, and the physics of sound. Thats the way it should be. I know about your beginings, because I talked to you alot when you were starting out, hence why I asked you to read this.
