There are lots of opportunities to make a reasonable earning with Hip-Hop. I'm planning on my Hip-Hop work to give me spending money for my time in college, which is starting in October.
With the internet, PayPal, and the such, it isn't hard to make a nice earning if you get everything going right. I'm behind on my original goal of getting my setup online but it's coming along. If you have knowledge with computers, web design, and the such, it's a definite plus for your cause.

so i would do both. go to school and have that as your plan b. i met so many other music producers in college. plus, it's easier to buy music hardware if you makin' $30k-$100k/year 'cause you have a degree (i almost bought a motif es8 with my student loan money but i spent it on my pc and car instead)...

| Exactly. I'm going to college to get the training to get involved in a career that could eventually provide me with a triple digit income figure. A solid career, whether it be in computers that I am aiming in or something else, is the meal. The ability to produce is the delicious pudding that comes with the meal.
I think the mistake that most aspiring musicians, regardless of what they do in the music field, is that they believe that it is their ONLY future. If you consider music as a hobby and work on something else as a career, you'll have more money.

believe in yourself and follow your dreams...Most producers that are big today have sacrificed a lot to get where they at today

Kanye West is a producer.
There's a difference between beatmakers and producers.
Do you just wanna make beats, or create whole songs?

^ What you can do is when you buy a mic, is to start creating reference songs.
Just do the beat, and a hook or verse, and sell that.
Rappers are lazy, they want pre-made hooks so they can just write their 16 bars and be done.
You can also hook up with a singer or rapper, and do songs together, and ship those to indie labels and other people.

go to school, make money thats guarenteed rather than waiting to sell a beat because thats never promised. theres always time to make music, and if your trying to live off selling music, then "your own label" isnt going to happen for quite some time, you need $ for that ish and money dont just come with saying "i make beats".. if u kno producers that live off their music then its because they worked on getting known, refferenced to, etc... easiest way to get known on the internet is definitely myspace and soundclick, i suggest making a page on S.C.... and for the bad voice thing, that doesn't matter, writing a hook or a verse is just as good which elimn8 cuda meant, &yea rappers r lazy lol so even if u write a hook or even sample some vocals for the hook then thats just more money your gonna get for the song.
dont dream, im not saying it won't happen, but the chances of you getting as big as a lot of industry producers such as kanye are retarded, and not just you, any music producer in general, so have a solid plan to fall back on, GO TO SCHOOL

Why everybody so stuck on school.School isnt for everybody. I know people who make a great living without a college education. At the end of the day its all about you. do what makes you happy. If u dnt wanna go2 school, find a job. There are plenty of jobs that pay well without a college education. You jus gotta grind with either choice you make.If you gonna do producing fulltime you have work overtime and perfect your craft and network, and have FAITH!!!

earn a good salary with no education??? so you want to work in a factory??? all of the manufacturin' jobs are bein' shipped overseas.
yea, you can go get your real estate license and make GOOD MONEY with no college education. but you're still gonna have to study them books so that you pass the real estate license test.
we are not stuck on school. america has more teachers and doctors and laywers and computer programmers earnin' more than 60k than there are producers, rappers, singers, nfl athletes, nba athletes earnin' millions of dollars...
so you can go to school and earn 40k as a teacher, 100k as a computer programmer, or you can try to be a rapper or producer or earn less than 20k until somebody discovers you.
our parents might have made good money with no college degree but all of those jobs are goin' to china, india, malaysia, mexico...
this is one of those times when i want to say damn americans but i'm a american too. the europeans and asians have known for centuries that higher education is good for makin' money... they didn't get stuck on school 'cause all of the hot girls went to college...

He's right, you aren't going to earn anything without an education in today's world. Hell, even the local McDonald's won't hire anyone over 18 unless they have a diploma or GED.
I'm going to a technical college to get into the computer networking field. It's a two year course. I could learn the methods of networking on my own but that degree will mean the difference between sporadic freelance work and a yearly salary that could reach six figures.
Put it this way. For every person in the music industry that is making a great living, there are probably 10 people who don't have shit because they put all of their apples into one basket. Diversify. Hell, even professional athletes have something to fall back on in the event that they aren't good enough, get injured, or become too old to play anymore.

ya see i was thinkin settin up a recording studio and by time id be able to bring my shit out to the public small time of course living in ireland lol,so my idea was fuckin wi fl and practice and then wen i turn 18 study something music related(hip hop) so i taught a recording studio so i could with time get out to the public while makin money with other rappers wanting to record, but ive also taught of goin to college and get a carrear and work meanwhile just for a backup plan incase im jus dreamin about the music scene lol
