Artist Saying Producers Shouldn't Get Paid???

I recently read in another forum some guy was blahbing on about how producers shouldn't get paid for their work. I was outraged, he was saying that he would never pay anyone for beats and that when he gets signed and the lable wants to buy him beats that is cool but as an independent artist trying to get on the scene he says he would never pull out money out of his own pocket for beats?? How do you feel about this?

2 . If you going to be sign to a label, you need to show your work on a demo or something, and a demo come with songs. If the CEO of the label is serious about talent he should hear original good beat, not only to see that the kid have money to survive, but to know what he taste is in his style.

3. You'r going to buy beat of producer before getting sign to a label if you want people to take you seriously, because they won't listen to your song if it a ludacris, snoop dogg beat, something that people heard before. A few rap with the know beat from rap star is aight, but not all the time.

People like this are the ones who WILL NOT ever be signed to a label. I've meet and have had people come to me just wanting free beats like I don't take the time to make the beat and shit and just expects me to hand it over like it's nothing? Nah, sounds scared to me. Scared money don't make no money. Unless he making his beats, where he getting em at? From dumb ass producers/beat makers?

Producers are more important that rappers nowadays.
We can make money from movies, games, commercials, products, etc.

He's not the true artist. The Producer draws and paints the picture. Individuals like himself frame it. There's a huge fucking difference and he's obviously not appreciative of that fact.

If anything, he owes the Producer money for having to put up with his obnoxious bullshit.

On a serious note, I don't think people like himself realize all of the trouble that goes through the process. Like Woods said, it's just not making beats. It's arrangement, it's engineering, it's equilibrium, it's everything. The Producer always has the pants in the relationship.

I met this dude whos a rapper and we were having this discussion, and he brought up a good point. He said that he will not pay for any beat that is sampled unless it is thoroughly chopped. I can see where hes coming from by not wanting to pay somebody for something that largely isnt their work.

Plain and simple that asshole is dumb as shit cuz if you dont have a decent beat nobody listens.Garbage ass rappers are gettin money right now because the production on their albums is hot.Dude is ignorant.

These “artist” have become spoiled by the ideal that they can get beats FREE online and some producers undersell and lower the market value of beats making it tougher to make profit selling beats. Yeah that so called rapper is a moron, but some tricks are willing to pay IF they think that artist is gonna somehow get them industry exposure – it’s a dirty game.

Soundclick basically destroyed the way a producer gets heard. I feel like I'm one of the few people who HAD soundclick, used it a week, deleted my beats, and stuck strictly with MySpace. It's crazy, 'cause "FDR Beats" or whoever the next top beat slinger is on soundclick will GIVE beats away, then sell others for $30. The fact is, an artist on a budget would spend his money on the $30 beat which is half-assed rather than with a REAL producer who may charge anywhere from a few hundred up. I think they assume/hope that their skills are enough to make up for the poor selection in beats.
