    Default OLD SCHOOL beat for feed/vocal

    Hi guys, would appreciate your thoughts on this one. Anyone into funky, sample based hip hop such as cold chillin' era may enjoy it. I've tried to construct a fairly simple verse/chorus format and (hopefully) with a nice easy flow for a rapper/singer;

    Hope it's enjoyed!

    huge oldschool fan
    feedback to your mix:
    sounds like you used atleast 2 different samples and added snares, pianos
    its too much
    in the future i'd go with 1 sample only, the pianos sound offkey, aswell as a few other instruments
    the kicks are nice, did you add them? same goes out to the scratching at 3:40, its nice, the snares/claps before 3:40 are bad, the snares after 3:40 are good

    This wasn't a bad beat by all streath. I've heard way worse. But like TOB said instruments were clashing a bit in tone. The bass didn't really match the key of the guitar sample and at time seems like it was a bit to crowded. The drums were crispy which is always a good thing. Your mixing as far as the track as a whole sound good just not as far as matching the different keys in the samples. Try and work on that a bit more and you should be right on. Hope this helped you..peace

    Future note. Wrap your links with the soundcloud tag so we as listeners don't have to open up a new page. some of us might not have very good connection to the internet and we want to listen to the track and not have to wait for the page to load. We want to listen to as much as possible as far as other producers go

    The feedback from both of you is very much appreciated and it's useful to get non conflicting advice. I'll repost once I've made the improvements. Thanks!!

    Finally started work on this again! I've condensed the beat and it's going to sound A LOT better. Here's a very short preview of where it's going. It just needs to be structured with one or two more samples (probably vocal in nature - I would actually welcome submissions or suggestions) and it'll be complete.

    Thanks!!
