I'd have to say, that I can't say that one is better than the other. There are improvments in vista but I won't be using vista untill I can use all my sofware on that shit. I still run a windows98 system, because I have a secret weapon that won't run on newer Os's. This is not to say that I am usin that system for everything, right now I'm on an Xp computer, but what I am trying to exemplify is that there are some reasons that the old systems are better than the newest ones, and vice versa.

I've used Macs for the past 6 years, but I copped a notebook with Vista on it recently out of curiosity (and after much research, believe me). I only have two requirements.... I need Pro Tools and Reason 4 to run.. and run WELL. So far Vista has done a good job in that department.

I prefer neither, but I've noticed that Vista has more ANNOYING issues at launch than XP did (I've owned Vista since launch).
They both run my required programs for music production, and when I just want to internet surf, I use Linux, so I can't complain that much.
I'll give it to Vista, simply because it's newer.

Haha. Yea, I had to take that off as soon as I got everything running.
I'd say the worst problem with Vista, by far, is the networking. It isn't very friendly with hooking up to other computers (transferring files from XP, for example) and it isn't too friendly with ethernet unless you set it up right.
Then again, it's Microsoft, so you can't expect greatness.
Oh yea, to anyone considering Vista, make sure you have AT LEAST 1 gig of ram. My laptop came with 512 and I had to go buy another stick from TigerDirect. You will be fine with 256+ on XP, but you will honestly need a gig to enjoy Vista.
