yeah just about between the 50 and 75 mark... theirs a lot of gangster music out there, but there's also a lot of mentality moving music too... guess its all in what you're into and what you listen to... not all hip hop has violent messages, and if they do they are about surviving in one way or another, so their is, in one way or another a message behind each track

true, i gotta go with what wunthugspassion said, i dont listen to todays hip hop a whole lot because of the violent and repetitive shit, i love me a good ganster track but only in doses, its better than listenin 2 how thier rims spin and the bling they floss, (Cash money type of music) I cant stand it. | |

say 50-75 cuz i think its definitely over half but not over 3/4's theres almost a balance, its just that the music wit the wrong messages or no msg at all get all the spins in the radio so you dont hear to much of the other | |

I don't think the any of the messages are violent, the rap industry is just another part of that "Hollywood Bullshit". you got billion dollar companies with endless resource to push a product to people, just watch for the next mob or matrix movie, ina day or so after that 100,000 rappers gon talk about that shit in they songs "but put theyself in that sitution like it's them" so really its not violent, but more like comedy...the bad part is alot of kids do believe anything.
