i agree. theres a reason you wont hear a sample track that ever sounds like kanye's shit. he's putting in some serious work with his shit.

but i'm all for any approach. theres no wrong way to produce, except any way that doesnt catch peoples attention.

"...Don't let anyone tell you that you can't make beats with a bucket and some sticks. This is hip-hop. If you can drop 40 points a night in Chuck Taylor's, do it. You don't need Nike Shox." - 9th Wonder, Scratch Magazine November/December 2005 Issue, Page 63

"Do you. Which means if you sample, sample. If you play keyboards, do that." - 9th Wonder, Scratch Magazine November/December 2005 Issue, Page 63

Remember that 9th is one producer who is often slammed for his lack of equiptment, and still he moves records with the best of them (Jay-Z, Destiny's Child...)

Well Music is not about equipment. Its about creativity. Regardless of what you create with. Whether is an MPC, FLStudio, Reason, Ableton live, XP 60, Triton, Motif, and the list goes on and on.

As a producer you may buy some extra equipment for convenience when you earn serious dough. But in the end everyone has their favorite piece that they are comfortable with. Its hilarious how people buy their equipment based on other people and status quo. I remember no one was talking about the ASR-10 until kanye was found out to use it. or cats buying tritons because they see several ones in Timbalands studio.

Samples are irrelevent. Talent is talent and you cannot compensate. Atleast not consistently enough to have a legitimate career in this business.
