Well guys, what did you think of the presidential debate last night?
For those of you who didn't catch it, both candidates touched on the economy but the majority of the night was dedicated to foreign policy, which was the original topic of the debate when it was planned.
I have to say, even as a devout Republican and Obama "hater", neither candidate did anything special. McCain burned Obama on some shit and Obama burned McCain on some shit. I think that it was a fucked up decision to not devote the entire night to the economy, which is something that the 10% of undecided voters really care about.
What I can say is that neither candidate is going to make any significant changes to the economy. Obama is going to tax a majority of Americans (he claims 95% will not be taxed but that's bullshit) due to his planned programs in energy and medicine. McCain, on the other hand, is considering a "freeze" on all non-essential programs to pay for the 700B bailout so that the taxpayers aren't heavily taxed.
McCain is also willing to make a significant reduction in business tax, which should bring more jobs for the American workers. The current tax rate, I believe, is 35%. It's one of the highest figures in the world.
Obama stated that he is for both Nuclear Energy and Offshore Drilling in the debate. He had strongly been against both things until recently.
McCain got drilled on the war but neither candidate said anything to impress me. They both want to attack Al-Qaeda in Pakistan and they both want to get the troops out of Iraq. I did think it was ignorant for Obama to continuously say that "we shouldn't have entered Iraq" when he should have been informing the American public on how he would end the situation.
They both spoke of Afghanistan and they even touched on Iran. Both candidates want to protect Israel and both individuals pointed a finger as the Commies in Russia for their invasion of Georgia. The invasion of Georgia was nothing more than the Russian way of saying fuck off for our business in Poland.
Overall, neither candidate did anything that will spark the American psyche. The debate was mainly aimed at those individuals who have already decided on a candidate for President. The real debate is coming up next week when Sarah Palin faces Joe Biden, which I predict that Palin will show Biden up.
I believe that there are two more presidential debates before the election and I hope that both candidates will take more time to discuss the economy, which is going to be the biggest factor for undecided voters this year.

Yeah, I took some notes on the debate for my Intl. Studies class.
A couple adjectives that come to mind are "marginal" and "somewhat fulfilling, like Taco Bell".
I'll add more later.

I would rather pay $4 a gallon under McCain than $2 a gallon under Obama. I can sacrifice the $2 per gallon to protect my constitutional rights.
That poster is hilarious. Obama is not winning Florida. Period.

No, he's just going to move America into a Socialist state. A Liberal President with an evil Liberal agenda, combined with a Liberal Congress, is fucking bad. That's the real Axis of Evil.
He can't do everything on his own, but considering that the Democrats are probably going to control both parts of Congress next year, it creates a recipe of fucking fail.
Technically, he only has the right to pass or veto a law. Being a Liberal with the Liberal Congress, he'll have more pull in what happens (how Bush had in his first term) and he'll have more ways in abusing his power. That means no new semi-automatic AR-15's, no more torture of enemy combatants, and no more killing of innocent people for oil. I just can't start my adult life in such a world. :\

yea for that to be the deciding factor on your vote is pretty dumb, especially during a recession, and when your country is at war, it really sounds like the answer of a child

mh children are irrational for the majority correct?, therefore making a irrational decision based on automatic weapons is childish is it not?

| It's not the only deciding factor. Economically, I'm doing alright. The country is at war for great reasons. Additionally, I stress the importance of the weapons because it's necessary to have the proper armaments to defend yourself against Communist and Extremist invasion. Another issue that forces me to not vote for Obama is health care. He wants to give everyone health care, and guess what, everyone doesn't deserve free health care. There's also the issue of withdrawing out of Iraq, Obama's stress on helping the environment, and other issues that prevent me from voting for him. The willingness of him to reinstate the Automatic Weapons Ban is the proverbial nail in the coffin. Quote: |

| That's why you educate yourself. Then you end up like me. :) Quote: |

| Like I said, it's a rational decision based on many issues, not just the fact that Obama is going to limit my Constitutional rights, including my Second Amendment Rights. It's just not about the guns in general, it's about the limitations of my rights. His policies are Liberal and his mindset is Socialist. America is a Capitalist regime. It doesn't work well with Liberal Socialists.

i agree with what you said about not everyone deserving free healthcare but the whole guns thing sounds a bit retarded. i think most people can live without them. having them for "self-defence" will just make people paranoid and end up shooting a ton of innocent people because they look foreign.
besides, you said it was for defence agains invading communists? what are a bunch of armed civilians gonna do against trained invading forces? besides invasions dont usually happen at random so the country will have time to prepare itself if there is a threat of invasion.
