McCain Selects Vice President

Well, you guys knew that I had to make this post. John McCain has finally selected his running mate for the upcoming election against Barack Obama. She (that's right) is Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska.

As a Republican, I'm pleasantly surprised by this pick. This woman puts oil before animals, people before companies, and managed to allocate the wasted earmark dollars acquired by corrupt politicians in Alaska to remove the gas tax in her state and provide her constituents with an extra $1,200 in cash to spend on rising energy costs. She has fought for reform and gives the Republican ticket executive experience that both parties lacked (as Biden, McCain, and Obama are Senators).

She's a lifetime member of the NRA (which is great because every law-abiding citizen should have the rights to own assault rifles and sub-machine guns) and she's lobbied the citizens of her state to remove the corrupt politicians from her state.

While I wasn't expecting McCain to choose a governor as his running mate, especially a female, I think he made the right decision. She represents the type of change that we need in this country (none of that liberal animals before oil shit) and she knows how to get things done on the executive level.

While I don't see her selection bringing over more of the Hilary votes, I do see many of the Independent voters going Republican this election because she will lobby for oil drilling in places that both Democrats and the Bush Administration won't touch.

If the Republicans selected Palin just for the female vote, Democrats selected Obama for the Black vote. Neither of those claims make any sense because neither of those groups decide presidential elections.

If anything, selecting Palin hurts the Republican appeal to females because Palin is against abortion.

No, he didn't. He may get a few of the stupid women voters who are voting for Hilary just because of gender but he isn't going to get the women that agree with Hilary's political agenda. Palin is a STRICT conservative (why she was really selected, to appeal to conservations who were leaning towards a Chuck Baldwin or Bob Barr) and Hilary Clinton is a mild liberal.

Hilary supporters that vote on issues will probably still give their votes to Obama before McCain. Those who won't vote for Obama will probably vote for Nader.

FACT: Being an ex-beauty pageant contestant does not disqualify you from becoming governor of Alaska, and I'm pretty sure any other state, and it sure as hell don't disqualify you from being VP.

I have other reasons for hating her.

She's not the PERFECT candidate (Giuliani would have been the best IMO) but she'll appeal to those Bible addicts that fuel the Republican vote.

One thing that I will say is that the person who wrote her speech the other night should be given a goddamn medal. Obama got owned on national television by a woman from Alaska.
