Good news, I'm an 18 billionaire, for one US dollar! Zimbabwe's currency is fucked

Well - I'm sure you all are familiar with the situation going on with Zimbabwe (yeah right ) right now.

All they're doing is fighting over their own worthless money - and the inflation proves it. They are currently officially at two point two million percent inflation.

Two point two million percent inflation. And that's just the official number from whatever kind of "government" is still hanging on over there. The World Bank and many financial analysts say it's higher.

The United States is at about five percent inflation. The second place country, Burma (yes I still call it Burma, deal with it), is at thirty seven percent. Hmm... An extra dollar a gallon of milk don't seem so bad now, huh?

The banks just released a one hundred dollar bill, I shit you not. No photos of it are out yet (it's zimbabwe, things take time.. they got wars to fight and whatnot) but here's a 500 million dollar one:



The current exchange rate is one US dollar (USD) to about 18 billion Zimbabwe dollars (ZWD).

Get to it people! The next step is for the banking system to collapse entirely (see WWII Germany, their money became so worthless that people burned it instead of wood in their stoves, to keep warm), and then there's always a "reform" period where shit gets under control, and they issue a completely new currency. And that's no fun. But the good news is, as long as the fighting continues it'll just be a cycle, and each time it'll go up and up and UP, then explode, and start over again.

So what can I buy with $100?

Cheeseburgers at the one McDonald's are still like 50 billion dollars. You couldn't just go and buy out the country, all the prices are messed up over there because of the dollar.

I've followed the Zimbabwe situation for the past few months (since they started talking about the election).

Robert Mugabe is awesome. Not only does he create one of the worst inflation ratings in history, he manages to remain in office after he lost his election by using force. That man has balls of steel and a vision of epic win.

I read about the Zimbabwe people bitching about the new 500,000,000 bill the other day on the BBC. Apparently, it won't even buy their lunch.

That's what THEY get for allowing Mugabe to stay in power. If it was America, we would have done killed the President and rioted every major city if inflation rose that high. That's how we roll. They, well, they just roll over dead.

Look for US Military intervention in six months or less. :)

Haha. Well, unlike many Americans, I enjoy the Bush Administration (well, with the exception of the Patriot Act, but nothing is perfect). The inflation in the United States is not nearly as bad as the inflation in Zimbabwe nor will it ever reach that level, because unlike Zimbabwe, we have a system to prevent hyperinflation of an enormous stature.

As far as the national debt, it's just a number. If we have to, we'll just invade another oil rich country to make everything work out. If anyone has a problem with that, well, it's not like the UN has the balls to "sanction" the United States.

Zimbabwe hasn't been important to the world since British rule was removed and it's going to remain that way. Mugabe has loyal supporters who are willing to use violence to keep their leader in power, something that the MDC is unwilling to do.

I just find it ironic though. How can you have Democratic change when you aren't willing to fight for the change? America wanted Democratic change from the British and we fought a successful military campaign with nothing more than militiamen and basic supplies. These guys have the support of half of the free world and they do nothing but complain about how they are being oppressed. It's not the world's fault that Morgan Tsvangirai is too much of a pussy to overthrow the ZANU-PF and begin a course of fixing the issues, such as the inflation, in the country.

If he had actually taken the initiative to overthrow Mugabe with force, they probably wouldn't be printing a 500,000,000 bill right now. The MDC was in a position to fix the country but they fucked it up. That's where peace gets you in this world.

Like the topic title says, Zimbabwe's currency is fucked and it's their own goddamn fault. They'll either learn that this is going to continue with Mugabe with power or they'll die. Either option is fine with me because there is a growing food crisis and there is no use in feeding the stupid individuals that fail to provide something to society.

And yes, I realize that's harsh, but that's the truest way to put it. Fuck being political correct.

thats not the point u can fix the debt now...but it doesnt stop the unpaid mortgages that cause it...thats why it's ever rising

Well, by going with my invasion of another oil rich country technique, we can split the proceeds with the citizens to solve the mortgage problem. :)

We can take the proceeds from the acquired oil, along with the proceeds that can be acquired by selling Nuclear technology to Iran, and we'd have this mortgage "crisis" solved. :)
