Default 8/20 R.I.P. Ebay, the online *auction* center - 21-08-2008, 12:15 AM

TL;DR version:

Ebay has the same costs as before to run an auction (couple bucks or so depending on price), but fixed-price listings are now 5c until the end of the year, and then 35c after that for ANY price listing.

Ebay is now Paypal only. I personally see an anti-monopoly suit coming out of this, just like in Ebay Australia's failed Paypal Only scheme.

Ebay is officially set up for huge sellers now (buy.com's 1 million listings and General Motors' forthcoming used car sales come to mind)

WOOT. $0.05 listing. That's delicious. I've got to get some of my things listed soon.

I do like the fact that they are doing PayPal only. I can see why the anti-monopoly crowds would bitch but I think it's a nice move. I would like them to support e-Gold, if anything, but I know that shit won't happen.

$.05 FIXED PRICE listing.

I'd also wait a short bit, just a 2-3 weeks because in the next couple days there is gonna be MILLIONS of new listings, it happens every time there's a fee sale and then everyone gets rid of their shit (or not) and it kinda dies down.

i don't like that paypal only thing. i have never had a problem with paypal...

but if you ever sell something on paypal and the buyer files a chargeback, paypal always sides with the buyer even if you have documentation showin' that the buyer is lyin' just so they can get some free xiet.

This Paypal only, is gonna fuck a lot of business on Ebay, I like the idea, ibeen usin Paypal for a minute. Shit I lost 3 or 4 payments in the mail before paypal, and yes 3 or 4 in like 6 mths.
Anyways, every company triea, or wants to try and monopolize, whats the big deal, it hasn't happened so the anti-monopolists need to get a hobby.
