What's up everybody, I'm currently in school for Audio Engineering, j/w who else on here is an engineer, if you work in a professional studio and what type of console your working with. Our school as a Neotek Elite, API Legacy and an SSL G4000, also a C24 for Pro Tools. I leave for my internship in a couple months, just looking for some input/experiences

Learning on big consoles is fun .. when I went to school they had a C24 and an SSL AXIOM, as well as some more vintage consoles and a ton of rack gear.

My school had our internship kind of built into a course as we would recording the schools clients every week for around 15 weeks. That being said, I never had to intern for anyone else but I've heard horror stories of friends who have. When I have people intern for me and I'm pretty good about it as I don't have anyone getting me coffee or doing my errands (I got my girl for that .. lol). I try to teach interns as much as I can. For the most part, I usually have them setup and break down while I check up on them to make sure they're doing it right. When recording, I'll give them pointers and things they should remember when recording clients. When mixing I'll do the same and show them techniques and explain the reason why I EQed that kick and what I wanted to accomplish EQing it. 99% of the time I will not let the interns record or mix, as the client is paying me to do it right. If I am doing a freebie or recording a friend, I will let an intern I've worked with and feel confident in to practice with my watch. It might not be the most glamorous but it's a hell of a lot better than the intern stories of heard, where dudes never even go to see the inside of the studio.

Right on, I'm most likely going to be doing Live Sound in Vegas for my intership s I don't have to worry so much about being a runner/janitor lol, I got the hook up through my roommate, hes tight with DJ Mike Toast and Kris Salcedo who spin at
Carnival Court. The benefit to that is we will be getting paid right away as opposed to having to live off my student loans
until I'm hired. Ultimately I would like to be in a studio environment as a Producer as that's what brought me to go to school for audio recording, and I would also like to own my own studio eventually and as business grows, start my own indie label

As far as my school, not sure if you have gotten interns from here, its the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences out in Arizona, and the interns they've setup out of here for the most part have a pretty good track record, a buddy of mine just graduated and just started his with Darkchild Studios out in L.A. and they have recently sent a couple graduates to work at Electric Ladyland.
