    Hello there,

I have been working ten years with MDR-7506 ... but now I have ear fatigue with them, and I find they are good for tracking, but not mixing. They have not enough punch in the low end (they do have low end, but you cannot really feel the punch of the kicks), and they are way too agressive in the highs.

so I searched ... I searched... and all the reviews were saying that the ATH-m50 are great for mixing. And many people having the MDR-7506 were happy to replace them with ATH-h50, for mixing.

I bought them... and... I love them !!!! No more harsh highs, better punch, and overall... when I mix on them... I get better mix in the end.

I woud recommend them to you.
I wear them at least 3 hours a day !

Ive also been researching headphones and found that the akg k240s are the best for the price range. ($100) These are mixing preferred headphones. Ive heard that there real comfortable for long periods, and are very reliable.

I used to have a pair of AKG k240s. Only thing I didn't like was the form factor. It was like wearing headgear or something. They sound great though.

Co-sign....just got a pair of 7506's and I'm very happy w/ 'em, but I've heard the ATH-M50's are the business for mixing....probably gonna be my next pair. Good luck and let us know which ones you settle on!

I just bought some ATH-M50's and there like totally eargasmic. Can't wait to mix with them. They sound better than my MDR-7506 (especially the bass & highs). I bought them after I returned some Beats by Dr. Dre (highly overrated).

+1! I've boughed a pair in January this year (after I had tried them at a friend's). In that price point, I've simply not heard better. (they were about 100 here).

The sound quality is truly amazing, with great detail and definition. It makes some badly mixed commercial records sound really crap, where the good ones really shine. (the bass was surprisingly good too)

I use them every day, and "check" everything I do through them, and they always excel, perfect for fine EQ adjustments, checking the Bass, pop&clicks and reverb tails etc....

As you might have gathered by now, highly recommended! ;)

NB: My only problem, the connecting cable is quite short, but with an extension this can be easily fixed.

ATH-M50's are great... I can't compare them with any other professional headphones, but I can tell they're great. The only thing for me is that they're not that comfortable after like one hour, but that's not a big deal, and maybe that's just me.
