If you're using Reason 5 you don't need an expensive keyboard with sounds and all because it'll just be used as a controller to trigger off your sounds in the computer. It really just depends how many keys/features you want for $150.

Do you want a 25 key with 8 pads and 8 knobs? Do you want something ultra-portable? Do you want just a full set of keys, no knobs or pads? Do you want it all? Not to mention other features like arpeggiators, mod wheels, pitch wheels, transport controls?

I have a 1st Gen Axiom 25, but I think the new one is a bit out of your budget ($200-250). My friend has the new MPK Mini I did a review (HidinginSanity | Akai's MPK Goes Mini - MPK Mini Review) for and though it isn't the best it will definitely be good enough for a "rookie" not needing some of the extra luxaries and it is really little and portable for $99. If your just looking for straight keys the Keystation would work good for just over $169 (Buy M-Audio Keystation 61es USB MIDI Controller | Keyboard Controllers | Musician's Friend).

Yeah man I want a keyboard that will work with reason. Portable & small with not alot of keys and I also want those pads knobs etc...

Now when u said you dont need an expensive keyboard for reason5 because its just a trigger. What software would you need in order for you to start using a very pricey keyboard and i ask this because im just curious.

Pricey keyboards are pricey because of the sequencer and sounds in them. Like a Motif has it's own software similar to FL Studio built into it with tons of different recording features and sounds. These are pricey because the software was built to high quality keyboards. It isn't really necessary it's what your comfortable using. A computer and keyboard controller will be just as effective as a Motif. It's what suits you.

If your looking for cheap, portable, with some triggers and knobs but not needing huge features go for the MPK Mini, it isn't bad by any means for your needs.
