horrible idea if you are paying to create this project......if you have any questions after this thread feel free to check out my moducation in tha advice section or PM ME cause i have boycotted this section http://www.crazypellas.net/advice-14...ucation-15411/

    but

this is why i say its a bad idea.....because if you spend money to create the project you need to get your money back and if people are working for you for free they must be some real loyal people cause they not making no money neitheri s your company....

I think you should press a certain amount to sale for like 5 dollars and another set to give out for free and sometimes you should only give it out for free if people are unwilling to pay you gotta always try to get that money

you gotta always TRY to get the money but i feel you why you want to just get your name out there...there should be other things that you doing to do that at this point

you should be trying to build up relationships cause real talk most people that get a free CD break weed up on it before they actually listen to it.....and you want to get it in the right hands...giving it to a bunch of nobodies who don't care aint gonna help much

you have to aim high.....generate a buzz online give it out free online and charge 5 dollars on the streets thats what i do

Giving things are for free is an awesome idea, if done right. If you're pressing up demos that wouldn't be able to be sold in a store (no bar codes), then it's perfectly fine to give them away.

Think about it. When you hear a new artist, do you buy their cd BEFORE you hear them? Most likely not, and if you did, and don't like the artist, you almost feel like you've been ripped.

For example, you want to hear the new guy in the group "The Silly Nillies". You're curious, but you don't know them enough to make an investment in. You're not a fan by any means, but you would like to have the opportunity to become a fan. You hear them from one of your friends, and dig the music, you find out more about the group through research, and then go and buy the cd.

The process is no different, except in your case is actually better because you'll be making a connection with people by passing them YOUR music YOURself. Do it, the only thing it could hurt would be about $30 for the discs gone, but that $30 is used for promotion purposes, and it that case it's more like an investment back into your music.

i think is a great idea to get your name out, its not gonna be really much of an expensise to really do this. just but dont be stupid and buy leasing rights for beats, just find free ones that are allowed for mixtape purposes or jump on commerical beats. your not making a money off of it so its perfectly legal, but by any means get your name out thats the first step as an underground artist you need to do, but i would also put it online because the internet helps a lot of underground artists these days, put it up on mixtape sites like datpiff.com or even just soundclick
