Default Death of free beat downloads

I LOVE MAKING BEATS. BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY I FEEL LIKE I'VE SPENT SOME SERIOUS TIME ON MAKING MY BEATS HOT AND I DONT WANT TO GIVE THEM AWAY FOR FREE DOWNLOAD. I KNOW MOSTLY ALL OF YOU PRODUCERS CAN RELATE. DONT START WITH THE "YOU NEED TO GET YOUR NAME OUT THERE" SPEECH BECAUSE NOTHING IN THIS WORLD IS FREE PERIOD!

THE POINT IS, WE AS PRODUCERS HAVE TO TAKE A STAND BY MAKING THESE BROKE CHEAPSKATE RAPPERS PAY FOR BEATS. I'M A PRODUCER ON SOUNDCLICK SO I'M JUST VENTING OUT MY FRUSTRATION. HONESTLY, SOME OF THOSE BEATMAKERS DONT BELONG ON SOUNDCLICK THEY ARE WACK AS HELL. THEY SEE US IN THE TOP 10 AND HEARD RUMORS ON HOW MUCH WE MAKE FROM SOUNDCLICK AND DECIDED THATS WHAT THEY WANT TO DO. SO THEY GO AND DOWNLOAD AN ILLEGAL COPY OF FL... SMH

WE AS PRODUCERS GOT THESE "RAPPERS" SPOILED THINKING "IF YOU DONT GIVE AWAY FREE BEATS I'LL GO TO THE NEXT PRODUCER". BUT IF THAT FREE DL MOVEMENT IS STOPPED THEY ARE CAUGHT IN A MAZE WHERE THEY WILL HAVE TO PAY BECAUSE NONE OF US WILL SUPPORT THEIR BROKE ASS HABITS ANYMORE. I'M NOT NEW TO THE INTERNET BEAT MOVEMENT, AS I KNOW THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS.

JUST STATING MY HONEST OPINION AND VISIONS. WE AS PRODUCERS HAVE THE POWER. RAPPERS ARE NOTHING WITHOUT US. JUST MY 2 CENTS!

BEATMAKERS/PRODUCERS PLEASE GIVE YOUR OPINIONS ON THIS.

I guess I can kinda feel you (not a beat maker myself). And i can see where you're coming from and all that but.....this is one of those things that cant really be helped. You just gotta stay on yours and make beats worth buying. Plenty of dudes still buy beats. The free ones are usually pretty low quality, so you gotta be that other option for them serious cats. But as for banding together to shut out free downloads....its 2009, the internets a big place, and I dont see that happening.

I feel you The Phantom. I don't want these rappers to just keep coming to my page like its lime wire. If your serious about your rap career you wouldn't have a problem with paying the $25 dollars for a lease, or $300 for and Exclusive. I'm here to help you and vise versa. Plus if your selling you mix tape for $10 a pop. 3 sales You get an extra $5 for ONE single track. You download for free you better sell it for free. As a listener I'm not paying you so I can hear a you tryin to make a hit of a tagged up beat.

    Im all for it....
Matter of fact ima fix my soundclick account tonite so my beats arent free to download.
Our way or the highway and i know these rappers aint really shit without us because lets face it a real producer is just that "A PRODUCER".

These rappers better wake up and start seeing whose pulling the strings around the music industry caus all the top dogs are old school producers and engineers not too many artist (3 or for don't count at all). U wana rap fine i wana make music fine, we need each other (even though technically i rap better than 80% of my clients) to make this work period.

I feel Ya, unfortunatley only one person on Soundclick gave a shit about my beats, maybe I ain't that good at it, who knows. So I just deal with a couple of local peeps to pass out beats, I seem to get better feedback at home than I do online, so I just gave up posting beats online. I would post some here but I don't want the same response I got on Soundclick so I kinda keep to myself that way.

Rappers wanna make something out of paying nothing, which is not gonna happen on my part. Thats why we as producers should pick 1 rapper who we think will make it happen in the business and then he/she should be the only one getting free beats because that artist is under our imprint of course, so your gonna get those sales back when they release a project. This is business. As far as the online market goes, we got lazy and desperate "producers" who bend over and spread their ass cheeks to rappers and either give them free beats or sell beats for like 25 cents!!! A true businessman lets his talent speak for itself.

I feel you Phantom,, but there are still benefits of the FREE DL. for instance, as long as you Tag it throughout the song,, you should have no worries, so when a rapper downloads it, they can put it on their ipod, or whatever, and get the feel for it, you know,, write to it wherever they feel, but because its tagged properly, they will not be able to actually record a song on it,, so its cool as long as its tagged in my opinion

Micmonster - rappers dont care lol! Rappers have sent me tracks with tags on it haha. They are trying to prove a point that they arent trying to pay for beats. Tonesetter - tagging is always good thats why i always front tag my beat as well now. As much as we pay for production equipment shhhhhh!!!

Yeah it's true they are only looking for free beats. Thats why as of now, i no longer give away any free beats unless it is the main song promoted on the charts and when that song is done promoting it's no longer free. I also added extra tags on my beats as well. Im about my money. If any of you rappers are feeling a beat you should definitely lease it. And when you plan to do something serious with the beat, then you should pay for exclusive rights. I no longer want to follow a trend that is unprofessional to me. Cheap and broke rappers will never make it in this business. Other producers dont want to reply because they are afraid they will lose business if they do. Im not gonna be a puppet on a string and if i lose customers so what! that means these rappers arent serious about their business anyway.

Here's my thing what is a producer without someone on his beat. You need artists as much as we need you. If you are a producer with no name If you can't show me who you have produced for, than you really have no right in demanding cash. You should not be asking for money until your beats are in demand where you can pick and choose who you give your beats too. I will buy beats but will not buy them from some unknown entity who's never had there tracks anywhere but on Soundclick. In production you are paying more for the name rather than the beat it'self

What you need to do is allow the free beats and make sure you name is promoted with the beat. Do not offer free beats to anybody and everybody but you offer free beats to artists you think can do good on thebeat.
