I have wayyyyy too many problems trying to make drum patterns that match up to the sample or synth or anything, any techniques you have to make drum patterns for what you're doing ?
thanks in advance

Yes, you must do your production the other way around....You need to match your samples/synthes to your drums......A lot of producers make a skeleton beat in the beginning, just as an outline...then build upon that...if you have a sample you like...just build a beat however you like and then modify the sample to work with it
Even when I did it that way its like fucking impossible to find some drums to go with this sample! holy shit!
but thanks for the advice
Yeah dog, you can do it like the homie says.. OR you can use a visual sequencer where you can actually see the waveform of your sampled loop and then manually move your drum hits to match the drums in the sample. Regular quantize options rarely work when you're programming over a looped sample. Human drummers just don't play perfectly straight and that's that!
Alternatively, you can listen to your beat rolling and nudge each individual hit until it sounds right.
I use Reason 6 for all my beats, and it shows actual waveforms of the audio so it's a snap to line the drum hits up to it. I know that a lot of DAWS do the same. If you're using a hardware box like the old MPCs or the MV-8000, you'll have to do it by ear or chop up your loop like the homie says. The problem with Beancity's solution is that you will lose the feel of the original sample if you're quantizing to the exact beats.
Back in the 90's I devised a mathematic formula to find all the drum hits in a sample but it took FOREVER to use. I would just get a DAW with a waveform display and line em up by hand!
I use to have the SAME problem. 1st get to know your drums & go out there and find some high quality drum kits. Like The goldynchylde drum kit, HD SOUNDS, SSO Drum kits, Johnny J drums, etc..
Start off making beats with the drum pattern. Kick, bass, snare, claps, hi hats, open hat, cym or crash, snare rolls and percussion's to add your own signature sound to the beat. After that build the sample or synthetic sounds around the drum pattern.
You will find yourself using as little as 2-5 sounds and making a hit record.
