I got into mixing stuff around early 2005 and eventually stumbled on this site (which explains my join date, lol). I heard someone from another forum post his mix of Jay-Z's Song Cry acapella over Eminem's Mockingbird instrumental and it opened my mind to a whole new world I didn't know existed. I was hooked, and over the next year or so that's all I did. All day, song after song, just kept mixing and mixing. It was just so fun and addicting. I'm sure a lot of you have experienced the same feeling. In December 05 I posted "JZLP - The Hybrid Designs" on a few sites. It was the first full length project I made and was pleasantly surprised with the feedback I received. It made me want to keep making more, so I started working on a few other little projects.
April 06 came around and I joined the Marines, which caused mixing to come to a screeching stop. For the next 8 months I was busy with boot camp, schools, training, etc. There was absolutely time for mixing. In December 06 I'm finally back at my house for a while. Late one night I had nothing to do and opened up the good old mixing programs and all those familiar feelings came back to me. I finished "AZ - Winter Leave" which was a little project I had started almost a year prior and had been 99% done as well as just make some random single mixes.
Somehow during this process I made an Eminem mix using a Muse instrumental. I thought it sounded pretty funny so I sent it to a friend. He was laughing so hard he was crying and said, "make more, make more!" I only had a few days left before I had to leave again and was able to make 5 Eminem/Muse songs. I had never had as much fun mixing than with these tracks. I wanted to use all the instrumentals from the Absolution album but I didn't have enough time. I ended up stopping with the 5 and calling it "Eminem - Muse EP." I always kept this in the back of my mind though because I wanted to eventually make an LP like originally planned.
I left the house again and have since then settled in and now I have some more free time so I plan on finally getting back into mixing. I have lots of little projects I started a while ago that I want to finish. I don't know where to start though, but I'll figure something out.
So yeah, you'll probably see me frequenting the forums.
And before anyone asks, aerichk was the most fucked up way I could think of spelling my real name, which is Eric. Me and some friends did this to all our names back in 10th grade and aerichk just stuck with me. I use it for everything I do online, so if you've ever seen it, you saw me. I'm a guy. The "chk" at the end does not stand for chick or anything like that. Just thought I'd get that out of the way.
Cool. Later. | well it doesn't really need to be like this one, but it'd be good
tell us a little about yourself, what brought you here, what you've done, what you do e.t.c :001_cool: |
