In this week's Hip-Hop & R&B charts, T-Pain grabs the crown, Rihanna comes in second and R.Kelly steps down.
Debuting at No. 1 on the charts this week is Florida bred crooner T-Pain with his sophomore album Epiphany. According to Nielsen's SoundScan, the album scanned 171,600 discs in its first go-around.
Right behind him is Rihanna who enters the charts at No. 2 with her third album titled Good Girl Gone Bad. The disc, which features appearances from Ne-Yo and Jay-Z, reels in 162,800 units in its opening week.
Slipping three spots to No. 4 after debuting at the top last week is far from bad news for R. Kelly. Double Up attains gold status in its second week by shifting 120,500 discs. The album's tally stands at 508,900.
Also attaining gold status this week is Amy Winehouse at No. 10. Back To Black, bags up 66,500 units in its thirteen spin, pushing the album's total to 560,100.
The gold rush continues with Ne-Yo at No. 18. After 6 weeks, Because Of You has sold a total of 513,100 discs with 36,600 representing the week-in total.
Posted at No. 20 is Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas. Dutchess continues to keep the competition at bay as it shelves off 35,200 discs in its 38th week on the charts. To date, the album has sold 1,998,000 copies.
After leaping to No, 12 last week, Robin Thicke slides twelve spots to No. 24. The Evolution Of Robin Thicke bags up 30,800 units this week, pushing the album's tally to 1,197,300 copies sold.
Without much promotion, former Bad Boy crooner Carl Thomas makes an impressive debut at No. 25, His third effort, So Much Better, shells out 28,500 CDs in its opening week. The set features appearances from Baby Cham, Brandy, Dave Hollister and E-40. Young Jeezy and his crew U.S.D.A tumble nineteen slots to No, 26. Cold Summer pushed 27,000 units this week. After 3 weeks, the album compilation has sold a total of 172,200 copies.
Despite falling twelve seats to No. 27, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony continues to keep cash registers ringing. Strength & Loyalty moved 24,800 discs this week, bringing the album's total sales to 262,400.
Posted at No. 30 is Akon . Konvicted ropes in 24,700 units this week. The album has sold 2,425,900 copies after thirty weeks on the charts.
Tripping seventeen spots to No. 33 is Tank. Sex, Love & Pain rings out 21,000 discs this week. The album's tally stands at 193,200.
Justin Timberlake falls ten slots to No. 35 this week. FutureSex/Love Sounds lugs in 20,600 units week. So far, the album has sold a total of 3,314,900 copies.
Debuting at No. 46 is Lil Wyte with his third album titled The One and Only. The album, which features appearances from Project Pat and Three Six Mafia, shells out 15,500 copies in its first week
At No. 47 is Corrine Bailey Rae. Her self titled album reins in 14, 690 units this week. To date , the album's has sold a total of 1,553,500 copies. Bobby Valentino plunges eighteen spots to No. 50. Special Occasion dials in 14,300 units this week, bringing the album's tally to 178,600. Not far behind is Beyonce at No. 52. B'Day shelved off 13,500 discs this week. Thus far , the album has sold 2,732,900 copies. At No. 54 is Timbaland. Shock Value sold 12,700 copies this week, bringing the album's total sales to 369,700. Hanging on to the No. 57 spot is Murder Inc's Lloyd. Street Love cashes out 11,800 discs this week. The album's tally stands at 421,300 after 13 weeks. Toppling fifteen spots to No. 59 is Musiq Soulchild. Luvanmusiq nets 11,400 discs this week, pushing the album's sales to 416,900 sold.
Further down the ladder, Joss Stone sinks twenty five levels to No. 65. Introducing Joss Stone scans 10,700 discs in its twelfth week on the charts, bringing the album's total sales to 406,900. Things turn from bad to worse for Lil' Boosie & Webbie as they plummet thirty two spots to No. 67. Survival of The Fittest only shifts 10,300 units this week and after 3 weeks the album has sold a total of 57,300. Leanin' at No. 80 is Joe. Ain't Nothing Like Me hauls in 8,600 discs this week, pushing the album's total sales to 201,200. Rounding out the top 100 is MIMS at No.100. Music Is My Savior has sold 230,600 copies thus far with 7,400 representing the week-in total.
