Busta Blames the Current State of Hip-Hop on Computers

During an Aftermath studio session, Busta launched a tirade against all things internet, blaming new innovations like mp3s and YouTube for hip-hop’s current state. He also points out that ringtones are now valued over singles, as evidenced by the sales pricing (”Ringtones cost $3.00; Songs cost $0.99).

I also agree. The game is sooooooo fucked up rite now to the point of no return is wat i think. Thats y my dream of being a rapper have been crushed, mainly because niccas like Mike Jones, Rich Boy, and Soulja Boy got n da game. The real money is in da producing, managing/management, Intels and all that now.

I agree but i disagree. What fucked up the game is when rappers started making wack ass albums it discouraged fans such as myself to from buying whole albums for one hot song. The business fell into a that slump it was pretty much over for sells. Now Napster forged a wholllllllllle new generation napster made it so you can download music for free offline and so many more programs followed such as Kazza and tho the industry shut those down other programs have emerged the must famous one being Limewire in witch we all still till this day use.

Then the Cellphone companies began making all these high tech phones ringtones became more popular i believe Lil Flip was the first person that went platinum on ringtones and i don't see a problem with ringtones now because they have made put an amendment in most contracts now that intitles rappers to a precentage of their ringtone sells and it is putting as much as 600,00 dollars in the pockets of these artist if they go platinum off a ringtone more then they would get with a platinum selling album.

Also now in these days rappers are getting rich off other things not just music so music isn't much a priority anymore you got rappers getting into the fashion industry colognes and other investments as for as them blaming Youtube and shit please i disagree people get what they get you have to blame the industry insiders and you have to also blame lables for not building up enough antipation for albums or coming out with enough new material so its more then just downloads

On the ringtone part of that of that statement,i agree with busta but computers as a whole, are not to blame...i blame it on these wack ass rappers putting out half baked albums.I miss 1994 when we had real hiphop albums like illmatic, ready to die and outkast's debut album(when Andre 3000 never used to do the 'hey ya' shit)......Anyway,its good that these ringtone rappers are not selling anymore.

Here's what's fucking stuff up. Wack albums and wack one hit wonder artists. The reason they are around is because I don't think labels are cultivating their artists or anything. I truly believe they are all out looking for that artist that can make one stupid hit, the can invest a little short term money in, make bank, and then let fall off. In doing this you get lots of bullshit artists with stupid gimmicks and no real talent (a great example at the moment is Solja Boy).

Sure the net and computer has a little bit of an effect, but it's not the major problem, and it isn't the one that is perpetuating this bad music.
