Probably stupid...but how

Hey I just started doing graphics so I dont know that much, but how would you get a picture to look like this

Basically I went straight down googles page and picked awesome tutorial sites. :afro-cool:

yea. i do

that is the same one use on the posted pic... its a pretty popular pic so i knew where to find it..
now we come to the effects... first the background has a red shine. to get this effect just create a new layer and fill it red. then try different blending modes to get a similar effect. looks like color dogde to me... (but i didnt try...) now the background is done.!
now lets create the foreground.
first use this brush to create the smoke effect.. http://www.deviantart.com/download/2...sSmokeSet1.abr

for the shiny effect on his earrings and the chain use this brush http://www.deviantart.com/download/4...ar_Brushes.rar

the person also has a toon effect i believe but i cant explain that now...
a similar effect to toon: add smart blur to the person. its not as good but ok.

i reckon a straight angled picture for that cover. urs is taken in a low angled which messes the perspective up...
try to work on the font as well.
and y dont u use some brushes like the somke... would look better imo.
