Help!

Ok so.
I'm using CS2.

When you've decided on what brush you want to use, and after adjusting the size...you're ready to go use it on the canvas right?

...there's usually a preview of whatever the brush is before you actually get to clicking on canvas.

All I seem to be getting is a crosshair and circles with crosshairs in it.
Shit is urking me, I did some clicking around in the menus and what not. I'm not even sure to what happened to where I'm no longer able to see the preview of my brush before putting it on canvas.

Can anybody help me?!? Cuz it's fucking me all up on placement.
