ive seen this before, and theres a part two, ill admit that there are similarities but a lot of shows now copy things that happen in the past, thats all it is now, everything is being recycled and re-used.

Even though family guy has done things the simpsons have already done, i still think family guy is better, plus the simpsons have been on for years what HAVN'T they done?

Seth McFarlane doesn't give a damn. He even admitted to doing this on purpose.

Yet you have to respect the man for making all this money.

Even if he does copy things, people still watch both shows so he is obviously doing something right.

i only like family guy when he fights the chicken. i hate that they always have some kind of musical segment in it, so i usually change the channel and miss the rest of the show.

As far as cartoons go the only ones that ever had any merit were the Simpsons, Futurama, and some of the episodes from American dad, and King of the hill. South Park, and Family guy are fucking garbage, period. I thought southpark was crap when it first came out-you know what? My opinion hasn't changed. Family guy has altogether too much gay shit in it-this is also the one of the reasons I don't like American Dad all that much. Both F.G. and S.P. are less than fucking immature-they are down right sick and fucking stupid beyond words.

The simpsons is still going, because the writing is still fairly good. The premise behind it was/is that it is a satire on everything, from movies, and tv, to Politics-both world, and local, ect.-this is why they can still write new shows, as long as there are politicians making asses of themselves, and the odd new movie coming out, they will be able to make fun of this stuff-by way of animation and voice acting.

The sad thing is when another show I.e. F.G. steals the whole premise of an episode-this is not done the same way that the simpsons satire some other piece of work-What it is, is the duplication of a piece of work combined with the ruination of it. That to me is the big crime here-they take a good show and make it into z-grade fucking trash. Its like getting some shit artist to sing a great song that was created by a great artist. I hate the remakes of classic tunes into some new garbage-its done all the time but to me its a fucking disgrace, and fucking disrespectful, to the original work.

just to put in my two cents...south park is better than family guy, and its not downright garbage or sick or anything. South Park's fucking hilarious because it makes fun of how stupid it is that adults believe everything they hear, and how such stupid things are made into the biggest deal ever. The problem is that they do it in an offensive way that appeals to people instead of doing it documentary style, and thats why everyone hates them. South Park has just as much satire as the Simpson's they just do a whole episode about it instead of just a little five second parody.

First of all Satire and parody are two very separate forms of humor-In general Satire being more intelligent comedy and Parody being more "low-brow".(This is not always true but as I said it is generally speaking)

My main issues with South park, are that its done on a very poor/low quality format, With less than Kindergarten drawing for animation, and the voice acting sounds like it was done by a group of 'special needs' preteens.
Now this said I would agree with people that say that you should judge the content, over the packaging-BUT-when the packaging is an intergal part of the Whole such as in visual media-its all tied together. If the "packageing" is downright fucking irritating, I am not going to watch it just for the Message involved.
Its no different with movies-If there is a great story, but you get a shit director and low grade actors to bring it to life, it ruins the story, and I ain't going to enjoy watching it. If I don't enjoy watching it -I ain't goint to fucking watch it. Some things in this life are not about enjoyment but about, responsibilty, ect.-where the enjoyment factor is not in any way, the top factor. I.e. you have to clean your house, wash your dishes, clean up your animals feces-some people may derive enjoyment from these tasks-but on the general whole most people do not.
Watching Visual media is not one of these things it is purely about entertainment-so again I say if it don't entertain, then screw it.

yeah south park looks really low budget, but if u watch it and think about the episode more deeply, u would understand that most of their recent episodes tackle current events and add a little twist in it to make it comedy

Simpsons steals from family guy too, so don't be getting on a fucking high horse about the simpsons. Family guy did the whole main character becomes death before the simpsons did it, and that's just one example. That said I like both of them, south park is good for it's different way of satirizing current events, American Dad is crap, and futurama was good and I wish they had done more episodes.

family guy suxs. simpsons hasn't been funny to me for 5-10 years, i only watch the old episodes now. southpark went down the hill too but they still manage to put out a funny episode every now and then.

if i want TOP NOTCH ANIMATION than i will watch ANIME (and anime is KNOWN for bein' LOW budget). so i don't watch simpsons or southpark for the outstandin' animation, i'll watch japanese anime instead...
