I'm 16 and i can make a whole list of people who killin hip hop, the first one would be soulja boy.. i do believe hip hop has no meaning to it any more but if u feel that way u should be bringin it back, i don't care what people have to say after i type this but lil wayne is not the best rapper alive, he raps about bullshit, people ride his dick when there are better lyricsist in the game, (eminem, lupe fiasco, chamillionaire, etc) my favorite is T.I. he raps with a meaning and speaks real shit in his raps, he makes meaningful songs, club songs,and street songs and all have a meaning 2 them here's a verse from one of his songs

thats stuff that people go through, then soulja boy comes in wit that superman bullshit. hip hop has changed alot since then but there's still rappers keepin it alive and u can be one of them just don't give up on the music u grew up listenin 2, help bring it back, but if u still decide 2 leave, peace

Soulja Boy dances...so what? That's how he has fun and expresses himself. Why people are so upset about this I don't know. If he wasn't making so much money then people wouldn't be so mad I think. Different generations, not everybody grew up in gangs and in the hood. Lil Wayne been in the game since he was like 15 or 16 or somethin. He's 26 now and he's still on the grind. He had a double platinum album at age 16. (The Block is Hot). Even tho he didn't have a good album again until The Carter in 2004. He's one of the hardest working guys in the industry. Alott of yall youngins in here was like 5 when Wayne first came on the scene. So all yall know is lollipop and all his mixtape appearance in the past 2 years.
Everybody wanna talk about hip hop is dead ever since Nas decided to name his album that back in 2006. Everybody wanna jump on the bandwagon. Ever since then thats all I hear..."hip hop is dead", and then you got people tryin to capitalize on this "controversy" by runnin around sayin "hip hop is alive" and namin their songs and albums that. And the same people still don't understand why Nas named his album that.

^ i agree with that. like, i aint a fan of soulja boy but i dont have a problem with him bein there as long as his music doesnt get involved with hip-hop, cuz it aint hip-hop is dance/snap music.

and @ chip: all hip-hop dont have to be about people dyin and gangs and shit, there plenty of good music thats more lighthearted. not all rap has to be people complaining about their lives

I'm not tryna 2 dis the fact that the on their grind makin their money, i'll give them that but wayne is calling himself the best rapper alive when their are better lyricsist in the game, i'm more of a fan of his mixtapes and albums from the carter II on back. and soulja boy says he's the hottest mc in the game and people are mixing him in with hip hop just cause he raps on his tracks. hip hop has gotten too materialistic and has gotten away from rappin about things that matter in the world, no one cares how many cars u have, how much money u got, how many girls u fucked, how many drugs u sold knowin damn well u aint never moved a key in yo life. we want 2 hear stuff we can relate 2, and if u relate 2 dancin, cool, just don't mix dance/snap music with hip hop.....

Damn, you cant give up just like that Cesare. Just think how many people have given up on Hip Hop, it needs as many soldiers as it can get. Its sad to hear you no longer have the inspiration to continue and you probably have the dopest rhymes on this whole forum man. What happened to this mixtape I asked you about a couple weeks ago? And when I posted rhymes in the creative writing, you were the first to post feedback explaining how I could make my rhymes better. And for that, I got nothing but respect for you. I just hope you come out of this dark cloud and continue to do your thing. But if not, then I guess I bid farewell to you and hope everything pans out for you. Peace

it can be dead as a door nail but complaining aint gonna bring it back..actively making cutting edge music and trying to bring forth change is all anyone can do
