Got Busted For Sharing Files

I got a letter from PennTele Data, which is the company that controls broadband traffic in my region. They caught me distributing certain files and programs through torrents on my computer. I'm just giving a heads up and a little advice.

They gave me the date, time, ip address, mac address, program i was using, and files for me and the people i gave out to in the letter. All they said was that it was it was a copyright infringement to have and distribute such and such files and that i would get my service suspended if i continued and would have legal action taken against me.

They never said anything about downloading the files, just about re-distributing them. If you don't use torrents you're probably ok, but i never thought they could actually just find one person for file sharing.

The advice is just don't distribute microsoft files and games, don't leave your torrent programs open all the time. AND, I sent them a letter back saying that I didn't realize the program redistributed without my permission (lie) and that I had legal use and product keys for the software I had, but removed the torrent files and just downloaded them because my CDs were ruined. If you don't know, a torrent is just like a map file that you can download that connects you in a peer to peer style thing. so deleting the torrent kills me as a seed to the public, but i still have the software (which they can't see)

They replied and said thank you, but now i'm on a list and i'm being watched now for file sharing...

MayB U should remove sum of the comments U made here bout that, Like the U knew part but lied?? Trust me I know where U comin from, I had FBI with search warrant in my place they took my PC. Now they building a fed case on me for the same thing. Copyright Infringement.
And them niggers went all over lookin for data on me. Their laptop was filled wit all the shit they Googled, the investigation, they even had comments I wrote. they B in all the places I go 2 just waiting for me 2 upload again. They got my MU acct, my Forum W acct, my Warez acct. So I guess I'll B made an example of. I'll B offline from July 31st on. or mayB sooner.
But wat happened 2 U always happens on Torrents. been happening for years. Surprised U never heard of it.

at this point the lying about not knowing doesn't matter, they let me go for now, i'm not redistributing from my house. I'm actually on a different computer and i'm in a different hotel up and down the coast. so Penn Tele doesn't even see me anymore. I got lucky though. I know a friend that got hit for 5000 bucks because he had a couple bootlegged movies.

Lesson of the day- don't share files.

it easy to get on utorrent, right click on the right place and hit copy, and then paste it into notepad and see ip addresses. but i haven't heard of megaupload turning ppl in. rapidshare is a different case. they are already getting sued in europe and the comments the owners said made it seem like they would turn ppl in just 'cause they got caught.

i don't seed torrents anymore. plus, i stay away from torrents for u.s. movies. i just torrent anime and music software whenever i can't find it on megaupload.

OH my that is so sad to hear... I know that these companies have to make their money, however, if they didn't charge these outrages prices for things, I don't think people would steal all that much. Just like music.. Before they wanted you to pay $17 - $18 for a album that only had 1-2 good songs on it. Can't be serious. Thank you for the heads up and everyone should be careful from reading this post (Of course if you weren't already aware of the dangers behind this!).

Yeh, don't share ANYTHING... EVER be a leecher or whatever, you'll be a free one! That's how everyone get's caught- SHARING/STORING. I never share, I'm leech and proud...

lol this is kinda old but my pc wasnt connecting and i didnt know why so i called my ISP and they told me I was flagged for copyright infringement... lol said it was the movie Fighter...

whats fucked is i didnt even know i had downloaded it... (never watched it)

so i deleted it... and havent used a torrent since...
