I guess it would be $45/beat.... but why are you paying to copyright your beats? unless you are planning to raise a lawsuit....

U.S. Copyright Office - Frequently Asked Questions

Quote:
When is my work protected?
Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device.
Quote:
Do I have to register with your office to be protected?
No. In general, registration is voluntary. Copyright exists from the moment the work is created. You will have to register, however, if you wish to bring a lawsuit for infringement of a U.S. work. See Circular 1, Copyright Basics, section “Copyright Registration.”

I don't think it's per beat. The 45$ (it's $45 now? It used to be $30. That pisses me off) is for whatever is contained on what you send in.

Far as my understanding goes you copywrite your shit asap after creation, if you are worried that you will have to sue, as thats the only truly absolute, & undeniable proof of when the "work" was copywrited.

So If you make a dope beat and somone else takes it and pays for the copywrites, when you hear your shits stolen, he has evidence-by way of the copywrite he filed-that its his beat, to go and copywrite it yourself at this point is useless. You would need to have substantial proof that its your creation, ie. A record realesed in stores, ect.

The whole thing boils down tothe fact that, if you don't copywrite your "work", you will be in for a hell of a long(and $$$Costly$$$) court room battle that you are not guarenteed to win. Though even if it is copywrited and stolen, you will have too shell out big money to pursue the jacker, in a legal forum, if it turns out he has no money, in the end your left with big ass bills from lawyers retainers, an fees, to Court room fee's.

This World of ours is a bitch-Its a world of rats,-Its a world of cowards-And its a world of greedy bastards.....
