I agree. I could understand confiscating the phone but the teacher had no right to break a piece of property that he had no right to break.
Teacher should be sued and should give an apology to the student even though the student was disrespectful of the instructional time.
Personally, I would have thrown a brick through the teacher's car. That's just me though.
