i heard it legal as long as u say u are selling the Cd and the Artwork on the CD, but if you are selling them and making a profit it is illegal. What is the truth behind this?

i believe... its illegal... without the expressed written consent of the artists... its like your selling their voice (which belongs to the record company) without cutting them a profit... pirateing... i think.... yeah pretty sure its illegal...

It is illegal...but for most labels, the kind of look at it as free promotion...in a lot of cases, your getting exclusive freestyles and such, and the record companies don't have to spend money to promote it because that's what the mixtape DJs are doing...

But saying you sell the artwork and case and get the CD for free is a kind of loophole but if a person wanted to pursue it, I'm sure they could have a case.
