    It is also hosted on Soundcloud right now. Take a listen:

    Notorious JP - 99 Parties in the USA: Miley Cyrus Remix Feat. Jay-Z - SoundCloud

    ---

    Hey all,

    This is my second attempt at a mash-up. This is my first version of 99 Problems vs. Party in the USA, and I am looking for some feedback whether to ditch this or improve upon it. Here it is:

    Tell me what you think. I am still learning about remixing (totally new to it), so criticism would be uber appreciated.

    For this project, I used Garage Band to chop and Audacity to change BPM. I know these aren't the best tools. My Logic Pro is messed up, so I was trying to work with what I had available.

    Thanks

    what i would do is take that guitar intro only and sample it and add some lyrics to it. it'll be awsome but so far it's a cool blend

    yeah, to use the attachment tool, you gotta either be a supporter ($$$), or be an elite producer. the jay-z acapella sounded off for the majority of the song, so check on that. keep trying, and try to stay active in the forums. its a good place here, and we're willin to help you with anything.

    @shushie

    Big thanks! I am trying to sample the guitar part at the beginning right now. I like where this is going. The Jay-Z acapella sounds a lot better with that section than the instrumental track of the chorus IMO. This might help to clear the song up a little bit.

    @illstyleblues

    Good call. I was wondering why I couldn't attach. I definitely will stick around here. This forum has been really helpful so far.

    As far as the content goes, I am trying to get the Jay-Z track to match the instrumental a little better. The tempo is the same now (both at 96 BPM), but it doesn't go as well w/ Miley as I had hoped.

    Any ideas how one goes about correcting this type of problem? Is it just about being creative when cutting the acapella, or is there any strategy I could use to match the acapella to the instrumental a lot better.

    Well The pella at the beginning isnt lined up rite, then when it comes back in, its way off.Try matching up the Jay-z parts better, & also your transitions are really Chopped. Could be an interesting remix if worked on. Would like to hear when finished.. Oh yeah, if you want feedback from others, u must give feedback..

    @Shushiemusic

    I listened to the Party in the USA vs. Party and Bullshit mashup that became popular a few months back...and I think I now understand where you were going with that advice. I just added two more bars of the guitar part rather than sampling it to use as the beat.

    what up unknown, i like the concept of this mashpu but as its been said, the jay-z part is off and the transitions need work idk what effects are offered on garage band but for my transitions i like using delays or beat repeaters...but thats just personal stuff. again i understand you couldn't use logicpro and garage band and audacity do not offer the best tools for making mashups. but all together i think if you worked on lining up the jay-z better it would sound good. another thing you might want to think about i know its only your second mashup but ur music will stand out a lot more with the more originiality you put into it, after hathbanger came out with party and bullshit in the usa there had to be 100 mashups that came out trying to do the same thing, now dont' take this as me hating on you or anything this is all constructive cuz i think you have a good idea going and if this is only your second mashup you definatly have a lot of potential and i think you could learn quickly....just keep working my man

    idk if its just me but i think your J vocals in the were out of sync. and some of the transitions could be better.

    i like the idea of it it works well. however a little more time perfecting it would go a long way. some parts are out of sync and other parts such as 50 seconds has a very unclean transition from miley to jay z. another wile working on it and perfecting some parts would go along way. definatly has potential

    Yo dude.. Nice idea man, kinda sounds alright..
    Your only problem tho is that the jay pella is fast on the beat, here's a couple of pointers..
    First off i use audacity for ALL my shit so i know what i'm doing with it (feel free to listen to some of my shit on here)
    fuck bpm's, do it by ear, listen to the original jay track and when the first beat comes in, note that part of the vocals.. Then, get your jay pella at that point, put it on the cyrus beat exactly where it should be, then, the important part, let them both play..
    If the pella seems to go faster than the beat, stop it, change tempo down a percent or 2, then find the right point to start it again, then try it again, it will prob need another percent or half percent adjustment again but thats all down to you listening well..
    After every tempo adjustment, you will always need to move the pella to the right start point again, even if it is just a tiny amount
    hope i aint sounded like a know it all but your mix jus needs a tweak, if ya need any help with audacity jus drop me a pm dude
