The following Atomix Virtual DJ Tutorial will teach you how to mix tracks together using the Crossfader in Virtual DJ.
The first thing that you want to do is load in the tracks that you want to mix.
- Start up Virtual DJ
- Go down to the browser at the bottom of Virtual DJ
- Browse to your music folder and select the songs you want to mix.
- Drag each track into an available deck.
For best results make sure that the tracks have the same BPM or are +/- 5 of each other.
Now that you've got your tracks loaded into Virtual DJ,
- Move the Crossfader over to the side of the song you want to play first.
- Hit the Play button.
What we need to do now is just wait until we feel it's a good place to drop in the next song. You always have to drop your song in on the longer bar. If you drop a longer bar onto a shorter one it won't sound right! Keep a close eye on the timeline at the top of Virtual DJ and you'll see what I mean.
If the blocks don't match up perfectly you can hit the Sync button which will make the tracks play at the same BPM.
Now you can start gradually bringing the Crossfader across to mix them into one song, and find a decent part to finally bring the crossfader right over.
And that's how you mix using the Crossfader in Virtual DJ.
Just keep practicing until you perfect it!
That concludes this Virtual DJ Tutorial.
You will be able to get help with using Virtual DJ and learning how to remix by posting a thread in the DJ Talk forum, and by asking other DJs who upload their music in the Remixes, Mashups, & Blends forum.
