• Interview with Producer Dizzee

Attachment 1731 Swedish music producer / beat maker Dizzee won May 2012's Producer of the Month. I caught up with him to find out more about what influences him and what software / hardware he uses....

Thanks for taking the time to do this interview Dizzee.

Is there a story behind your name Dizzee?
My friends came up with it a sunny summerís day. Iím not a multi-tasking person so when my friends speak to me while Iím doing something else, I automatically block them. Itís like theyíre not there. I do that so often that they even count how long it takes me to answer. My record is 14 seconds. That explains it pretty much...

What genres of music do you produce? What's your favorite?
I produce everything from Dirty south to RnB and hip hop. Iím on some house shit as well but I haven't released them lately.

How long have you been producing?
I've been producing music since late 2008.

What first got you interested in becoming a music producer??
I used to bump lots of Dipset, G-Unit and Houston (draped up type of shit) music.
They made me take the steps to actually try beatmaking.

    What/who are you inspired by?
Pete Rock, Just Blaze, a lot of Dj Premier, T-Minus, TimbalandÖ too many to name! No specific order.
A lot of Coldplay and U2 as well.

Do you use samples or compose your beats from scratch?
I started out sampling, but I felt like I was being kinda limited so I started out making beats from scratch and I donít regret it.

What software and hardware do you use to produce music?
FL Studio 10, my Acer laptop (windows 7) and my M-audio midi keyboard.

Do you see music production as a career or as a hobby?
    As a hobby...

What are you trying to do with your music? Do you want to help your community? Are you trying to get rich? What is your goal for your music?
I want people to really feel my music. Like when you get goose bumps for listening to a really good song... thatís what I want to achieve.

Do you have any kind of management, publishing or distribution team behind you? If so what are their responsibilities?
    Katem Limit Productions

What are some accomplishments that you have achieved and are most proud of?
    Nothing major yet.

What one tip would you give to other aspiring music producers?
If you donít have the motivation and ambition to keep going, give up.
Inspiration comes and goes, BUT if you ever feel like quitting, do it.
Youíre just not the person built for it.

What do you see is in the future for the music industry? How do you think it will evolve/change?
    That's a hard question!

Can you tell us how you found CrazyPellas.net?
My friend was talking about it and was suggesting me to sign up.

Has this website helped you at all in your musical journey?
Yeah, a lot of feedback on the music. Very motivating to keep it going and do my thing.

Do you feel like the internet is helping you as an underground producer?
    A lot!

Where can we check out your beats online?
    http://dizzeebeats.com I also got a lot on http://soundclick.com/dizzee.

What projects are you working on at the moment?
Working a lot with Mista Cain from Oklahoma City! He shot a video for a joint a while back I produced.

Then I have the Katem Limit Productions with a lot of rappers, like Marley aka Cabuloso. And a few other artists I can't tell yet.

Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years time?
I have no idea. Rather be perfecting my craft and see where it takes me.

Do you want to give a shout-out to anyone?
Mom Rest in Peace you've been my inspiration since I was born and never let me down.
Always told me that hard work pays off! And everybody supporting me to this day!

Thanks again Dizzee for doing this interview.

You can also find some of Dizzee's beats in the homemade beats section.

Thanks for your Words of truth i look forward to hearing your music. What advice do you have for someone with a strong music back ground that has just started on production and making beats and sampling . I have been rapping which i am pretty good at and i SANG from my Heart...So making instrumentals would be my Stage two while i network on stage one. How would you approach doing these stages
